A budget cutting bill that defunds education, infrastructure projects, and puts a stop payment on the remaining stimulus bill money.

Thats it? Really?

What about entitlements? What about Social Security?

The Republicans response to this question was "well we'll have to do that in 2013 or Democrats would stop us"

But that didn't stop them from passing a stupid healthcare reform bill just for show now did it?

They focused on the 25% of the budget that is good for something. Cutting education spending is like eating your seed corn. Yeah, you'll get through the winter, but next spring you're screwed. Same thing with infrastructure, because those projects help the flow of goods and services across the country, making our products cheaper and more easily accessed.

God forbid Republicans touch defense spending.

If the Republicans seriously try to cut trillions in government spending their business supporters that profit from the spending will leave them high and dry. Talk about biting the hand that owns and feeds you.

I can't wait to see who and what actually gets cut.... I hope it it will not be more private sector jobs in the long run somehow? That would be continuing in the wrong direction and that would not bode well for anyone.....

I don't like what the Obama administration has done, and I'd have much rather seen a contraction of government spending rather than bailing out banks and crap like that with hardly any regulations that we did, but President Obama would have to continue spending like a drunken sailor for another 3 years at the level he is now to match President Bush.

Lets not forget that about 20% of the current budget deficit comes from paying interest on the Bush administrations loans.

I'm with most of you....without a significant cut in defense spending, i reject this out of hand.

By all means, cut the defense budget.

North Korea acting up, China building up its military, Iran nuking up.

Yea....cutting our defense budget makes all the sense in the world.

As I have shown in subsequent posts, if you add in the budget surplus that the Bush administration threw away, their spending was considerably higher.

When your dad gives you 20 bucks, and you go out and spend 40, that doesn't mean you only spent 20.

Really, when, by how much, in what areas?

We spend 4 times what the entire rest of the world does on military spending. I'd think we'd be safe with a military thats twice as advanced as the entire rest of the world combined, seeing as about half of the world are our allies.
