Well, yeah. The only way to make this expensive green energy competitive, is not by lowering the costs of it, but by eliminating cheap power, and raising the cost of other forms of electricity.

This is essentially what our Energy Sec. said before congress:

Nunnelee (R-Miss.) said — not high gasoline prices that could eventually push them to alternatives. “I can’t look at motivations. I have to look at results. And under this administration, the price of gasoline has doubled,” Nunnelee told Chu.

“The people of north Mississippi can’t be here, so I have to be here and be their voice for them,” Nunnelee added. “I have to tell you that $8-a-gallon gasoline makes them afraid. It’s a cruel tax on the people of north Mississippi as they try to go back and forth to work. It’s a cloud hanging over economic development and job creation.”

Chu expressed sympathy but said his department is working to lower energy prices in the long term.

“We agree there is great suffering when the price of gasoline increases in the United States, and so we are very concerned about this,” said Chu, speaking to the House Appropriations energy and water subcommittee. “As I have repeatedly said, in the Department of Energy, what we’re trying to do is diversify our energy supply for transportation so that we have cost-effective means.”

"But is the overall goal to get our price —”, asked Nunnelee, who didn’t finish the sentence.

“No, the overall goal is to decrease our dependency on oil, to build and strengthen our economy,” Chu replied.

So it is not the Energy Department's duty to see that out country has a plentiful supply of dependable, and economically affordable fossil fuel, it's their duty to force us all to use less of it and to force us into expensive, experimental, alternative forms of energy???? all during the "worst economy since the Great Depression".

Is it any secret to anyone that 0bama is feeding hundreds of billions to his cronies? The disgusting display of failing solar companies that received billions from 0bama should be obvious to anyone how corrupt 0bama is.

more failed cronyism. Obama is not just the biggest crony capitalist the world has ever seen, he is also the biggest failure.

A123 Systems (AONE), the battery manufacturer for electric cars backed by the Obama administration, filed for bankruptcy today after it failed to make debt payment earlier this week.

The Waltham, Mass.-based company, which manufactured advanced lithium ion batteries for transportation, electric grid, telecom and commercial markets, has failed to show a profit in its 11-year history, and lost $83 million in the second quarter.

Obama's Crony Capitalism - Reason.com

Quote:
Now, maybe Pimco’s El-Erian has agreed to volunteer as chairman of President Obama’s Global Development Council entirely out of an altruistic concern for the people of the developing world. And maybe the CEO of GE, Jeffrey Immelt, volunteered to head Obama’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness entirely out of patriotic concern for jobless Americans.

Fortune described it well in a 2009 article: “Pimco’s success stems from shrewd bets on government intervention.

For some reason, none of this feels like government by or for the people, and it isn’t. Rather, it seems as though “crony capitalism†is the watchword for this administration. Strip away Obama’s showmanship and scolding, and the president has done just fine in protecting the interests of the top 1 percent, especially among those who were his contributors and the right kind of 1 percenters.

A recent report issued by Transparency International, an international anti-corruption NGO, noted that the United States ranked lower than “many of its partners†in the OECD in combating corruption. In particular, the TI report singled out “undisclosed conflicts of interest by government officials.â€

What puzzles me is why should his being a "crony Capitalist" upsets them when his being a Socialist/Communist discounted him from being a Capitalist and made them hate him.

Does being a Socialist/Communist/Capitalist mean that his being a Muslim Marxist gets cancelled out?
It is really confusing.

Can you name anyone else in government that is a Crony Capitalist or is it just Obama?

What is the difference anyway? it's all CAPITALISM and the right wing loves and worships Capitalism/Free Market/Deregulation/Trickle Down Voodoo, so what is the issue here?

Never on the scale that 0bama is engaging in. Even the revolving press corps door is raising eyebrows, because it's never been this blatant and on such a large scale.

Time's Stengel latest in long line of reporters who jumped to jobs in Obama administration - The Washington Post

Jay Carney was among the first of what has turned out to be a parade of journalists who’ve turned in their press badges for work in the Obama administration. In a trend that has raised some eyebrows among Obama’s critics, at least 20 reporters and editors from mainstream news organizations have taken high-profile positions in the administration within the past five years.

At State, Stengel can swap newsroom stories with Samantha Power, a former journalist (U.S. News, the Boston Globe, the New Republic) who is now the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. His staff will include Desson Thomson, a former Washington Post movie critic who became a speechwriter for Hillary Rodham Clinton when she served as secretary of state. Other colleagues will include two recent additions to Secretary of State John F. Kerry’s staff: Glen Johnson, a longtime political reporter and editor at the Boston Globe, and Douglas Frantz, a reporter and editor who has worked for the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times and, most recently, The Post. Frantz was also briefly an investigator for the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, chaired by Kerry, then a senator from Massachusetts.

and it goes on...

BTW, just because some corrupt politicians on the right engage in cronyism does not excuse 0bama tripling and quadrupling down on it. When are you going to stop falling back on the lame excuse that 0bama is "just like Booosh, just like Boosh?" When 0bama is actually the worst parts of all the presidents before him, all wrapped up into one package.
