If "evangelical" Christians are "whackadoodles", then what are Roman Catholics? They seem to have much more dogma than do the Evangelicals, yet they seem to get a pass on the "crazy" label??
As I said, I'm an Atheist and I don't hold the same views as Evangelical Christians.
But I don't HATE them or think they are DANGEROUS in any way. In fact, I don't really see anything to fear about their views. Biblical Law??? What's so bad about that? What "Biblical Law" seems "dangerous" to you? The part about not lying or stealing?
Heck, I probably live a more "Christian" life than many who say they are Christian. The Bible teaches good things actually. Where we part is on the whole God thing.
I'm just happy that I have every right to NOT believe.
I don't hate anyone either
Abortion is minor concern to me. I am more concerned with our Foreign Policy and any influence evangelical beliefs have on it, especially if they are politically engaged.
"As if working from a slate of evangelical talking points, both Franklin Graham, the evangelist and son of Billy Graham, and Marvin Olasky, the editor of the conservative World magazine and a former advisor to President Bush on faith-based policy, echoed these sentiments, claiming that the American invasion of Iraq would create exciting new prospects for proselytizing Muslims. Tim LaHaye, the co-author of the hugely popular "Left Behind" series, spoke of Iraq as "a focal point of end-time events," whose special role in the earth's final days will become clear after invasion, conquest and reconstruction. For his part, Jerry Falwell boasted that "God is pro-war" in the title of an essay he wrote in 2004."

Oh PULEEZ!
Do you seriously think that Bush invaded Iraq for religious reasons? I'm pretty sure he never even implied that.
Remember that a huge majority of Democrats had to vote in favour of that war too. Were they all swayed by evangelicals?

IN the past several years, American evangelicals, and I am one of them, have amassed greater political power than at any time in our history. But at what cost to our witness and the integrity of our message?
So here is an admitted evangelical basically saying those who preached a tie between the war and religion were wrong.
"data compiled from federal records by Environmental Working Group, a nonprofit watchdog that tracks the recipients of agricultural subsidies in the United States, shows that Bachmann has an inner Marxist that is perfectly at ease with profiting from taxpayer largesse. According to the organization’s records, Bachmann’s family farm received $251,973 in federal subsidies between 1995 and 2006. The farm had been managed by Bachmann’s recently deceased father-in-law and took in roughly $20,000 in 2006 and $28,000 in 2005, with the bulk of the subsidies going to dairy and corn. Both dairy and corn are heavily subsidized—or “socializedâ€
"Bachmann’s financial disclosure forms indicate that her personal stake in the family farm is worth up to $250,000. They also show that she has been earning income from the farm business, and that the income grew in just a few years from $2,000 to as much as $50,000 for 2008"
"In the 11 years for which the Environmental Working Group has compiled data, the federal government paid out a total of $178 billion to American farmers. We’re not talking about the Joads here. The bulk of subsidies go to the wealthy, not small farmers, as Ken Cook, the group’s president, explained to the Central Valley (Calif.) Business Times:
American taxpayers have been writing farm subsidy checks to wealthy absentee land owners, state prison systems, universities, public corporations, and very large, well-heeled farm business operations without the government so much as asking the beneficiaries if they need our money. ... Even if you live smack in the middle of a big city, type in a ZIP code and you’ll find farm subsidy recipients.
Chuck Grassley, the longtime Republican senator from Iowa who warns his constituents of Obama’s “trend toward socialism,†has seen his family collect $1 million in federal handouts over an 11-year period, with Grassley’s son receiving $699,248 and the senator himself pocketing $238,974."

That's called "policing ones self".
George Bush: 'God told me to end the tyranny in Iraq'

Sorry, but I do not see the Roman Catholics attempting to create a Theocracy in this country, at least not as obviously as the Evangelicals are. Now if you care to debate religion, that would be a topic for another thread and I'm quite sure that there are hundreds that can be found on CD.
