The article also mentions a large percent of procurement contracts by the UN involve fraud and that UN peacekeeping operations are "plagued with numerous cases of abuse and sexual exploitation."
How effective is the UN? Where does it excel and where does it fail?
I suspect the US dollars status as world currency has been the only thing keeping the USA from membership suspension of some kind. In which case, losing the ability to make decisions on trade rules would bring the USA back in humiliation.

3. These rights and freedoms in no case may be exercised contrary to the purpose and principals of the United Nations.
So, what are these purposes and principals? It seems to me this very clause gives the UN power to “DICTATE”.
Defund these hypocrites and let them open a shop in some other third world.
