You have to admit though..with a single Internet ID and using their servers will make it easier for them to track who, what, when and where.

It's for your own protection.
Do you want terrorists blowing up planes ?

Anyway..they say it's optional.
I guess I'll take that with a grain of salt though; might be optional today and tomorrow you're locked out of 99% of your internet activity unless you have that ID.

Pretty much the way flying is..you don't want to be groped then don't fly.
You don't want to be tracked, then don't use the internet.
Suppose I want to surf anonymously from another location.
Will I need my ID to surf?

Let me guess, if you have nothing to hide, then you don't need to worry about it.

Sounds like Gestapo tactics to keep track of everyone.

So now you know that this is a bad idea, let's look at the reasons why they want to do this. Do you really think that they are doing this to protect us? NO WAY! They are doing this for CONTROL only!
Bingo

It's for their own police state, but they'll tout it as "think of the children" or your own protection.

It's supposed to be like a single login.
Single ID/single password used for all your banking/purchases/other.
Could be used even here on C-D since we all need ID/pw's to post.

Just think..your banking ID/pw is the same as your C-D ID/pw is the same as your gaming ID/pw.

Scary thought..eh ?

I know my banking info is nowhere near as unsecure as my C-D info and other forums I participate in.

I got one already. I needed one so I could sign in to pass along the intelligence data collected.

Obviously with more and more things being done over the internet it's going to be more and more regulated. Thinking otherwise is silly.

You don't understand that the government already has the capability to track just about anybody's internet phone, cellular or any other type of electronic communications in existence. And its had this capability for years.

So what's you point? The moment that America and the world decided that the internet was going to be a pervasive form of communication a large part of individual privacy was lost.

Isn't VeriSign doing a good job regarding safeguarding online purchases ?

Have you ever known our gov't NOT to be wasteful ?

This will be yet another layer of gov't that will busy itself spying on the public and you know there can never be to many spies?
