Ah, demonstrations in Egypt, like those in Tunisia and Iran before it have absolutely nothing to do with economics or food. But like so much bible prophecy I suppose anything approximating such prophecies is good enough to prove their validity, if you have enough blind faith rather than facts.

Swing and a miss.

"Protesters had been expressing their anger over the rising cost of living, failed economic policies and corruption, but all of those concerns were distilled into one overriding demand -- the resignation of President Hosni Mubarak, in power for three decades."

It's funny, because ovcatto didn't even offer a reason why they are rioting. He just says "it's not because of economics or food" and leaves it at that.

Funny, hah, just too tired of having to dispense information that is so readily available to those with a penchant for intellectual laziness. You cut and paste a article, a speech or worse a Youtube video without challenging the facts simply because it fits some wishful preconception.

I don't know ovcatto, if you read the link, the information was readily available to you as well.

Even though CNN clearly indicated that the economy was a major factor in the protests?

I hope it goes well. Popular unrest and overthrowing a tyrant can create a power vacuum and get co-opted from the participant's original goals - French Revolution, post WW1 Germany, Russian Revolution, Iran....

Hopefully the result will be governments that show some democracy and are acceptable to the US.
