Taco Bell sued: Lawsuit filed in beef over Taco Bell 'meat' - latimes.com (http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/wire/fl-taco-bell-suit-20110124,0,3088351.story - broken link)
It says Taco Bell's ground beef is made of such components as water, isolated oat product, wheat oats, soy lecithin, maltodextrin, anti-dusting agent, autolyzed yeast extract, modified corn starch and sodium phosphate, as well as some beef and seasonings.
Just 35 percent of the taco filling was a solid, and just 15 percent overall was protein, said attorney W. Daniel "Dee" Miles III of the Montgomery, Ala., law firm Beasley Allen, which filed the suit.

I like Taco Bell, although I Haven't eaten there in like, I dunno, 2 years or so.
We should be glad it has some things in it that are fiber. At least we dummies don't have to worry about twisted bowel syndrome or the like if it was straight meat.
Well if only 15-35% of their ground beef is actually meat, than they should just go all the way and make ground beef that is 0% made of meat...Than they could market a product to vegetarians who like cheap pseudo-Mexican fast food...
This is a "duh" kind of thing, and I fail to see the problem. Maybe it's because I've worked at Taco Bell for 2 years and knew this firsthand, but in my eyes, as long as it tastes good, I don't really care what it's constituted of, as long as it won't kill me rather quickly.
It's not like I plan on eating healthy whenever I go out for fast food anyways..
ANyone who eats at any restaurant should know what to expect before they go in. You get what you pay for in life.
When I go to the Ruth's Chris Steakhouse I know what kind of beef I am purchasing to consume. Same as if I were to go to Applebee's, I know to not order a steak and expect an aged piece of prime beef, which is why I don't go to Applebee's, at least not for steak. A salad sure.
Fast food joints like McDonalds, Wendy's, BK etc etc, all serve crap, and anyone who eats there derserve what they serve there. I only have non scientific observation but sometime just go look in the window of one of these joints and compare the overweight people to the skinny people over the age of 25. I think you may find the obese outnumber the skinnies. That says alot to me.
