Watched a DVD during SOTU and rebuttal. Caught the highlights online this morning.
The one thing I am picking up is Harry Reid's reaction to an earmarks veto by the President.
"Speaking to reporters on Capitol Hill, Reid said that the plan is 'a lot of pretty talk' and would cede too much power to the executive branch. It would give "the president more power, and he's got enough power already,' he said. "
Yikes!

If I recall correctly, Mr. Obama made it a campaign issue back in 2008, yet he never followed through, so why should anything be different this time?
The president has always had the power to veto any bills, so why would Mr. Reid figure that this gives the president too much power. It isn't like the president can veto only a portion of a bill or anything like that.

He's right about earmarks as they put the control of spending back into local hands. However if he believes the reasons he gave why is he pushing for things like Obamacare? A politician who says one thing and does the other ??? Say it aint so.

I remember McConnell recently said "no more earmarks!" then added more pork earmarks to the tax cuts for the rich expansion bill than anyone in US history

I said this in another thread but I think the Democrat game plan is for Obama to talk the centrist talk and Harry Reid to walk the lefty walk because Reid won't come up for re-election for another 6 years and the public will forget 2011 and 2012 by that time. Obama will do his far lefty walking after 2012, like he did in his first 2 years, if he's re-elected. He's only taking a 2 year sabbatical and he's letting Reid carry his lefty water in those two years.

Obama already promised to veto earmarks and LIED.
Many bills have went through him with earmarks.
Remember when he PROMISED he would not sign any bill until it has been 5 days? Guess he lied about that and the earmarks both.
More BS from the scam master himself.
