From what I read in the healthcare law itself, there is already going to be rationing, so I'm not seeing what your problem is
It appears to me that the Democrats are trying to cover up what their law says with something that may or may not true. Whatever they say they will have to admit to some rationing for Medicare people since they are cutting $50 billion per year from Medicare. That sounds to me like some heavy rationing by the end of year 10.
Looks like granny will need to keep her job and make payments to a supplemental insurance plan, or do like I do and make small monthly payments to my doctors and the hospital.
Your care is cheaper if you pay for it. If insurance is charged for the bill, the cost for the care increase 10 fold.
Emergency room visit for my daughter, some stitches and antibiotics, $250
Emergency room visit for me. Insurance paid 80% and I saw the bill for $2500 I paid more for that visit having insurance, because of my deductible.
Republican Paul Ryan, now chairman of the House budget committee, supports rationing health care for US seniors. His plan to voucherize Medicare is the classic example of rationing care. Under his plan the government would only give seniors a voucher for a certain amount of money and any extra cost would be paid by senior citizens themselves. His plan is to slowly shrink Medicare voucher checks over time leaving senior citizens left to pay more and more for health care.
Why does Paul Ryan and the Republicans want to pull the plug on grandma?
what they really need to do is ration medicaid.. the singleabuse payer system
Hey, thanks for the link. It certainly seems that they intend to get worse as his prominence in his party rises.
It will definitely get worse, Ryan has the authority to make cuts and he definitely isn't all hot air like most politicians in DC. They are terrified he will go after their sacred entitlement programs.
I will say his ideas for fixing them are definitely aggressive but instead of offering an alternative the Dems will just blast him for trying to kill grandma.

Op must have forgotten that its not republicans that are killing advantage palns after yaars of trying to stop them or that took that 500 billion out of medicare.
Whey the Rs purposely misrepresent having a doctor discuss end of life issues with patients as killing grandma, then offer something that is rationing, they don't get to complain and use false umbrage.
So sorry for your refusal to see the irony of this situation.
Removing control and placing it back where it belongs, is a bad thing?
Government should never be in control of your life.

See how that works!!!!
Anecdote does not equal data.

How does a doctor talking to a patient about end of life decisions equate to government controlling your life?

"Ryan has proposed replacing Medicare with healthcare vouchers in the future for younger Americans."
"Democrats weren't able to prevent all attacks on their bill, however. Asked if the law fulfills its promise to lower healthcare costs for Americans, Foster answered: "I would say false." Foster and his team have estimated that the law would increase national healthcare costs by $311 billion through 2019."

Note no mention of that half trillion they diverted to Obamacare from Medicare on the eve of the baby-boomer's retirement. Yep, no problem with pulling the rug out from under current recipient who have paid into the system for the past forty years, but a future voucher system that will effect no current recipients and only begin to be implemented a decade from now is heartless.
