it's a private shelter run by a religious organization so if you are homeless and seek refuge in their quarters you need to abide by thier rules! Otherwise a highway underpass might suffice.

This is private property! PRIVATE, not YOUR property! They have the RIGHT to deny service to ANYONE. If the gays don't like it they can find another homeless shelter. They don't have a right to stay at that shelter.
Then they shouldn't be getting government funding, should they?
