I guess it would considering how the lot of you who trash threads on CD with your behavior are on that side of the issue.

Go ahead and find a quote like the one you complained about made by me or find a putdown quote similar to the ones you constantly fling at people who disagree with you (DWI recipients, dirtbags, uneducated, jealous, perp, etc.). You won't. I can actually STICK TO THE ISSUES AT HAND. It appears you are afraid of those issues becoming more and more known to the general public and will do whatever you can to stop that knowledge from being passed on via message boards. Too bad about that.

I have stuck to the issues and will not continue to repeat myself over and over. Go to the other thread and read. I don't see any use of dealing with issues with a jealous bunch such as yourselves. I get pleasure letting you people know who you really are, which Newsday won't report and are part of. I wouldn't be surprised if some of you were Newsday reporters. So Mangano has NO power to lower salaries and neither does NIFA. THat kind of frustrates you huh. Its called a contract!! The only way out of a contract is to go bankrupt. Thats what they have parachutes for. And according to you guys mine is golden.

Yes you discuss the issues.

Then when people don't agree, you throw a tantrum and start calling names.

Newsday reporters? LOL.

Would you really like it if Nassau actually went bankrupt? I wouldn't.

As for whether your parachute is golden in color, I doubt it is for the rank and file.

It's really not appropriate that this local issue has to be debated on this platform, which is a national one.

This cop and his friends have shut down any discussion of this ripoff of Nassau taxpayers on the Long Island forum, where it really belongs.

Their power is scary. After all, that's how Nassau got into this mess in the first place. The cop's union has had the politicians in its pocket for decades. The only way to break the stranglehold is to shine the light of day on their corrupt relationship. We have to do that wherever we can.

I know this sounds desparate, but that's what we are. If the only way to bust the union is to go bankrupt (and I don't know if it is), then that's what has to be done.

I think you have a point here. It has been said by others (and myself) before, as well. When things are going well and people are making money hand over fist, no one bothers with civil servants. When things are going well, civil servants are the people at the DMV, tax collectors, or "government workers" of a vague nature at best. At worst, they are the slobs who do the jobs no one else wants to do.

When times are tough, suddenly civil servants are of great interest. Suddenly they are the ones who make too much money, have too many benefits, and live "lavish" lifestyles. When the private sector is unstable, taxpayer reaction is to take it out on the people who do have some stability. Misery loves company.

Thing is, this is not unique to New York. It's going on across the nation.

Mark my words: When and if things get better in the private sector, civil servants will fall off the radar. They'll go back to being the nameless, faceless people who deliver the mail, patch up the roads, clean up child vomit between lessons, listen to helicopter parents at parent-teacher night, and respond to calls when the party next door goes on until 3:00 a.m. There will always be a few cranks and critics, but by and large, they'll come to be regarded as fringe, as they were before everyone jumped on their bandwagon.

Don't get me wrong. I can see how it can be annoying, especially coming from people who appear to be tooling around on City-Data on company time or using company resources. Imagine a cop or teacher doing that. Must be nice to get paid to goof off.

But don't sweat it, Truth. Seriously. It's not worth blowing a gasket over. I won't go so far as to say let 'em eat cake, because everyone has the right to an opinion and to express that opinion. Just that you know what they say about opinions.

A real live NCPD employee that is critical of Gullotta? If he raised taxes everone would have seen the obvious, that police salaries were escalting out of control. Instead he borrowed money to pay the bill, the NCPD absolutely loved hiem and actively campaigned what was not to like.

I'm starting to believe that half of the police department was locking up drunks with half of them making over $150K. I know, just another you statistic you choose not to believe after all we can just count on your personla research. Enjoy yourself in Disney Land because that's where you live.
