Will the U.S. experience be the same?... The Low wage working class working for nothing after getting a college education...

When uprisings begin in the US it'll be for many reasons, not just wages.

Looks like it's getting serious... The military has fraternized with the protesters... The government was forced to resign...

That was my question exactly when watching the newscasts from Egypt.

It's a very real possibility if the republicans and tea party continue to have their way. They have been calling for bills to slash medicare, insurance, cut social security, abolishing child labor laws, eliminate minimum wage, filibustering any bill that tries to regulate off-shoring,..If they have their way the middle class would be abolished and what few jobs are left, would be paying a "generous" wage of likely $3 an hour.

Ben Bernankes QE2 has caused worldwide food inflation. This is what started the riots in Egypt and Northern Africa. Although most of the people there are angry at their own government and have no idea how much their situation is an unintended consequence of United States fiscal policy.

As much as I'm against food stamps and the welfare state in general it will most likely prevent the U.S from ever having Egyptain style anger and protests. Handouts will appease. Yet the catch 22 is to keep up our massive welfare state will require more money printing and more debt...which will cause further inflation. which will cause more global unrest.

Well... I think a country should resolve it's own problems... We've got our own issues here...

No, it's a very real possibility when our government implodes upon itself and there is NO money left to fund anything, let alone entitlements. The TP and the R's are trying to save us from ourselves by bringing fiscal restraint back so that these (and all other government funded programs) don't go by the wayside. By definition, unsustainable programs are unsustainable.

I often wonder if these left wing lunatics would rather see our government collapse under the weight of its mounting debt than attempt to reform some of these programs. Apparently so?

If there were jobs... There wouldn't be any need for these programs... Stop hiring illegals... Stop outsourcing...
