I've never been to Haiti, but as luck would have it, my new neighbor is a Christian missionary from Texas who has spent the last 20 years in Haiti.
While Haiti is the "poorest country in the world", he said, they get better treatment then our homeless and downtrodden do in our own country.
I take the man at his word.
They still live in cardboard boxes and tents made with plastic, a year after the earthquake, but from what you say, i guess they splurged on a 5 star hospital.
Dude, our poor and downtrodden are their upper middle class.

This is true. Couple cellphones for every family, TV or two, at least one car, cable, best sneakers welfare can buy. There is NO comparison between our poor and the rest of the world's.

They all have cell phones. Each and every one of them. They live in tents a year after the Earthquake because the entire city has to be rebuilt.
If you didn't know, there are people in this country living in cardboard boxes and tents year round also, and have been doing it for much longer than a year.

A HUGE difference when an earthquake takes out your city....
No they didn't. They represent the special interests that pay the millions and millions of dollars of campaign expenses, not the voters.
So I'll take your response as a completely agreement then. You have nailed the main reason why we are in a mess. Our congressional members have used us over and over again to be elected through hollow promises, just to flip flop without conscience.
If you think these baby boomer and Xgen politicians are bad, the ME generation will be coming into power soon and that's when the real sh^% will be hitting the fans.

What are the people excuses here?
If I didn't know better I'd say you aren't from "here". You don't type like someone from "here". You sound like someone who hates "here" as you lament over people from anywhere but "here".
People living on the street, in a tent or a cardboard box anywhere is a trajedy, no matter the reason. That it's happening here in the wealthiest nation on earth is a travesty. I hope those financiers and bankers get what they deserve in the afterlife for lining their pockets by perpetuating poverty. Welcome to social engineerings unforseen consequences.
Come to Fort Walton Beach my friend, the homeless have set up communities in the woods around town with junk. They have nothing, and are run off by the police at every chance they can.
If you think that we don't have some of the poorest people in the world, you're badly mistaken.
If the Healthcare Bill is found Constitutional, we could use the same stance to make them buy a house!!!

True...I have been places the child's JOB is to beg for pennies around airport and such places.
