They are doing it for the same reason people that are working are lower debt and saving. What is there to invest it in and then they don't know what the future holds.Too unceertain times and the governamnt is encopuraging holding on to cash to be better levered for the future becasue of massive national debt;and so mnay chnages that can effect them such as taxes dircet and indircet.
Exactly, Corporate America could care less about creating jobs in America or doing anything in the national interest. As other economies around the world grow America matters less. That's why most corporations are investing in resources outside the United States. The wage scales are lower and the economies are growing faster.
Corporate America is playing on the uninformed in the American public, which unfortunately there are many.
No labor costs are the problem. Outsourcing is the result of unbalanced labor costs. US labor is just too expensive. US consumers don't care about quality anymore; they just want the cheap stuff and if it breaks they just go out and buy another one. The US has a materialistic, throw-away consumer base that care more about low product cost then either quality or keeping America employed.
