Really?

American industry is different. We were in a boom in the 90s when the gates of technology were ripped off their hinges. We had a resurgence in the auto industry when foreign automakers opened plants all over the US.

Also corporations and financial institutions were propping up failing markets to meet investor demand. So in part you had a healthy economy, but you also had balloons being inflated. Unemployment in that time should have been high because money was flowing like nobody's business.

Today we are in a completely different economy. Technology, although still making advances, has plateaued compared to the '90s, the auto industry has slowed, both domestic and foreign, banks and financial institutions are no longer allowed to loan money they don't have nor to lenders who don't have the ability to pay back.

I'm just hitting on the big players because I'm assuming you can take it from here. Take this senario back through History and you'll be able to see a pattern, and starting in the '30s you'll see another pattern emerge, the intrusion of government. It's an eye-opener.

You need to stop listening and reading them then. But you also night stop listening and reading from the other side. How about try to read factual articles then form your own opinion? But also, be careful where you get those facts. Follow the money trail of the intity before taking their findings at face value.

It gets old to make personal accounts in order to refute general rhetoric, but here goes, again. I am not considered rich. We were nowhere near six figures in salary last year, and yet we will once again receive tax breaks from the cuts Obama signed into law.

BTW, when you do some reasearch you'll find corporate cronies on both sides, and right now Obama's corporate cronies are still in charge.

I'm middle class and I'm not starving. My husband even changed jobs (I should say he was forced out) and now we're making a little more than half his salary (okay, we mightbe considere poor now, I'm not sure), but there are jobs out there for those who can suck up their pride to *gasp* make less than they used to. And we've figured out a way to make it work.

Yeah, the elites are in charge, but they will ALWAYS be in charge. Life is not fair. I learned that from my Psycholoy teacher in high school. As a teen I hated every time she said it because I was taught life should and would be fair. That's the biggest lie ever told. It's not meant to be.

Be happy with what you do have. If you're a casualty of this economy, get off the computer, get a job and work your way back up. There are jobs out there. You just have to suck it up and take what you can. If you're not a casualty you really have no right to sit behind your computer and act like you know what it's like or that you know that YOUR party has the better idea. They don't. None of them do because they aren't interested in you and I getting rich because they wouldn't have as much power.

So who dictates when somebody should "Take what they can"?... Is your husband happy making almost half what he used to?... It's called wealth re-distribution... Hope he's satisfied...

Look at the Soviet Union and Eastern Bloc countries. They hired people just to hire them. They were still poor.

Better yet, look at the United States from 1930-1945. The U.S. government hired people just to hire them. It was the poorest period in our history. People must have a job that is of benefit or it won't help anyone.

And we should be thanking these companies for sitting on this cash. The more money we have in the money supply the less valuable that money becomes. That causes inflation. The feds keep dumping money in the money supply, leading to inflation. "Hoarding" it helps keep inflation down.

Just another example of the capitalist fixing problems created by the goernment. Quickly, quietly and efficiently.
Then why the outcry for extending the tax cuts?... The economy grew under Clinton...
