Few are as arrogant as high-ranking military officials???
Obviously since the other Obama staffer laughed nervously, she was just plain too dumb to know how to act.
I also remind you of Barbara Boxer acting insulted because a General was calling her "maam" instead of Senator. He was being respectful and she was being arrogant.
And does repeating this "story" make you feel superior?
During an exclusive dinner hosted Monday by the Alfalfa Club, Obama adviser Valerie Jarret was seated at the head table along with several other big-name politicians and a handful of high-ranking military officials. As an officer sporting several stars walked past Jarrett, she signaled for his attention and said, “I’d like another glass of wine.”
White House economic adviser Austan Goolsbee, who was seated next to Jarret, began “cracking up nervously,” but no one pointed out to Jarrett that the man sporting a chestful of medals was not her waiter.
“The guy dutifully went up and got her a glass of wine, and then came back and gave it to her and took a seat at the table." "Everyone is in tuxedos and gowns at this thing, but the military people are in full dress uniform.”
And you know this how? I seriously doubt you've spent so much as a day in uniform.
I left the military as a MSG and won't begin to claim I was enthralled with a lot of officers. That said the vast majority of them possessed more individual honor than any group of civilians.
Few things are more annoying than someone that gains their "knowledge" secondhand at best and then has the temerity to proclaim it as fact.
Hilarious, "gains their knowledge secondhand" ... for one, city data would barely exist without second hand knowledge. Two, I've worked and played with hundreds of military officers, knowledge is firsthand.
I'm just correcting you all on the misguided notion that military officers are sacred bastions of good above and beyond human error and self interest. They are very similar to the politicians in Washington you have complete contempt for. Corruption in the military is quite paralell to corruption in the government. They are also well paid, well pampered and constantly attempt to use their position for personal gains and make perhaps more mistakes then most of us.
Thie is a chief advisor to the President mistaking a General for a waiter and then blaming it on not wearing her glasses. I'm fairly certain waiters don't have a chest full of medals, but I could be wrong.
The General took it in stride and brought her a glass of wine as a joke. She sent him a note of apology and he invited her to dinner next month. All is well. It was pretty boneheaded on her part but funny as all get out. lol
