Supreme Court Justice Thomas Admits 'Inadvertent' Error
getting your info from a very leftest publication again I see. No, he not going to be thrown off the bench, he admitted his error, for what that is worth and how is he an embarrassment? Is it because he is black and not a left wing lib? Since when is that an embarrassment to normal peoples way of thinking?

Default Clarence Thomas's $700,000 "Oops, should I have not done that?" moment.

Throw Clarence Thomas Off the Bench - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/dailybeast/20110304/ts_dailybeast/12731_clarencethomascriminalbehavioronfinancialdis closure - broken link)

....discovered that Thomas had failed to disclose a source of income for 13 years on required federal forms. Thomas stated that his wife, Virginia, had no income, when in truth she had hundreds of thousands of dollars of income from conservative organizations, including roughly $700,000 from the Heritage Foundation between 2003 and 2007. Thomas reported "none" in answering specific questions about "spousal non-investment income" on annual forms — answers expressly made "subject to civil and criminal sanctions."

Supreme Court: Clarence Thomas, a walking conflict of interest - latimes.com

It is unclear how Thomas will rule in the next case in which an individual is accused of a failure to disclose on tax or other government forms. Thomas is viewed as one of the least sympathetic justices to such defenses. Indeed, last year, he joined a decision in Jerman vs. Carlisle that rejected a defense from debt collectors that their violations were due to misunderstandings of the requirements of federal law and just "bona fide errors." In rejecting the claim that such errors were not intentional, the court reminded the defendants that "we have long recognized the common maxim, familiar to all minds, that ignorance of the law will not excuse any person, either civilly or criminally."

It is no secret, it's public knowledge that Virginia works for the Heritage Foundation and founded a right wing advocacy group - Liberty Central. It's not like he could hide it so I don't understand how he could have mistakenly checked "none" under spouse's income.

It reminds me of that line from "Kicking and Screaming".
"Balls! We've got balls!"

So it sounds like a misdemeanor... the author obviously hates Clarence Thomas but the question is still, was it a serious violation? Not really, he didn't cheat on his taxes... all he did was forget to include his wife's income on one line and that was the crime... I don't know how that merits full dismissal... since it has no serious implications or repercussions... even if he did include it, it wouldn't really do or mean anything... its a technicality and the author wants people to make it more than what it is... its like me not checking my gender on my driver's license and bam, its a "serious" offense to this one author... its no wonder, nobody is covering the story because it really isn't that important...

Clarence Thomas is a liar and a cheat and should be impeached from the bench immediately, before he has an opportunity to weigh in on one, single, solitary new case.

He didn't "forget". You don't just "forget" that your wife has income. Especially not hundreds of thousands of dollars a year of income.

And if you're really trying to sell us on the notion that Clarence Thomas is stupid enough to "forget" that his wife has income, and we buy it, then you must also admit that that lone renders him unfit to serve on the highest court in our land. Stupidity from the Supreme Court is not an option.

Are you kidding me? No serious implications? The fact that he personally benefits from hundreds of thousands of dollars a year of his wife's income from extraordinarily conservative groups portends "no serious implications" to you? If one of the "liberal" Justices "forgot" to report hundreds of thousands of dollars a year in spousal income from, say, MoveOn, tell me you'd be claiming that it has "no serious implications". That's a joke and you know it.

Knowingly not reporting hundreds of thousands of dollars of income is the same as simply not checking the "gender" box? Are you freaking kidding me?

Why, cause he doesn't vote the way "you" want it... I don't follow him and his votes but nothing reported has been egregious... I don't understand why people want someone removed because they didn't vote how they wanted it... I mean seriously... I rather they vote based on how the laws work in this country instead of what you or anyone else wants... if they did what you wanted, it would be totally dysfunctional... I wonder if people even realize this...
