I have no problem doing an inquiry about terrorism as related to extremist muslims to find ways to curbe such threat. If this inquiry does that, fine. I need to see more on that to have a clearer picture and agree with it or not, take care.

So, besides all the bluster over McCarthy methodology were those 50s guys, commies? That part usually gets lost in the Hollywood hand-wringing.
They sure were Communists and many of them were exposed by their later behaviors. I doubt that many people have ever studied the Venona Papers in fear that they may realize that McCarthy was not what he was so strongly accused of being.
I was against McCarthy while he was doing his thing but after I found my way away from the Democrats when they nominated McGovern, an avowed socialist, I started looking at him and what he tried to do with different eyes. Even that far back progressives were very strong in the Dem party.
What you righties forget is that it got waaaaaay out of hand and once he started going after the Military they put a halt to his witch hunt. You may think this sort of thinking is fine but Americans will not put up with another round of McCarthyism.

This whole thing started before that, back in 2006 when he was being challenged by Mejias. The Islamic Center of Long Island leaders actually donated to King in the past, even early in the 06 cycle. Then King started running his mouth, they then through their support behind Mejias and the next thing you know they were terrorist supporters according to King.
Before you further embarass yourself with stupid comments perhaps you should read some history. I suggest "Blacklisted by History" by M. Stanton Evans. McCarthy did not accuse large groups. You may be confusing the work of his Senate committee with that of the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) which held hearings on the communist penetration of various groups, including labor unions and Hollywood. By contrast McCarthy focused exclusively on communist infiltration of government agencies--particularly the State Department. Early on his work was broadly supported. You may not know this but Bobby Kennedy was one of his staffers and McCarthy was godfather to one of Kennedy's kids. McCarthy was brought down because he over reached, launching an investigation into the Army. Of course, Eisenhower, having spent his life in the Army, was protective of that branch and turned against McCarthy at that point. That gave the media and feckless politicians carte blanche to demonize the senator. The bottome line, however, is that McCarthy was more right than wrong and the Verona Papers, revealed after the fall of the Soviet Union, confirm that.
It was CIA director Allen Dulles who was most responsible for McCarthy's downfall. He had CIA agents break into McCarthy's senate office and gave him false information about alledged Communists in government.
