Every superpower in the history of the world has been pro-war and violent, its how they stay on top. I would never say the US is perfect but I have no problem saying the US is the most enlightened superpower in human history.

Exactly. I may not hold those values in my own life, but their values are none of my business unless they try to control other people's values through legislation, or name call. Then pointing out hypocrisy becomes part of telling the truth.

It isn't the sex part...it's the political part....someone in your party has illicit sex, be quiet.....someone in the other party has illcit sex, raise hell, squash their bills, end their career..........it's all, and only, politics, not sex.

I have found it is easier to live in a goldfish bowl than to try and hide what I think or do.

Because we live in a very conservative nation. War, guns and violence is A-OK, even on children's shows, but show a pair of sweater puppies and it's a national outrage.

That's not gonna wash .. we have politicians everyday, being faithful to their spouse, while at the same time, throwing the oath of office out the window.

I don't care what all of those Whorehounds and Slutpuppies do in their own time in D.C. .. just as long as they uphold the oath of office ..

Wives, mistresses, girlfriends, resident lays .. call 'em what you want .. in the bigger picture, they don't count at all ..

When you are elected to office, and you make that trip to D.C. .. your only real concern should be the affairs of Nation ..

The only time I think it should ruin their career is when they are the most strident voices against sex outside of marriage, homosexuality, and other moral "high horses", and then proof is shown that they themselves are practicing the same thing.

But if a politician wants to get a hooker, and has never gone after prostitutes, then I have no problem with that. If they want to have fun with their intern, and haven't hurt anyone else in the process outside of their own marriage, well, thats their business.

The issue is, this is a democracy of sorts, and most people don't feel the same way.

The reason why most of the politicians you see that step down from these types of scandals are Republicans, is because their base is highly religious and big on family values. Democrats don't have the same moral compass.
