You sound like a relative of mine who studied in Germany for the Jr year of her college career. Came back with a huge chip on her shoulder and an irrational sense of entitlement. General hygiene was not on her top 10 list of things anymore either. She too, wanted to return to live the life of Reilly she had as a student - and assumed everyone else who lived in Germany did as well.
But her parents wouldn't fund it and she was too "intellectual" and above other 22 year olds her age who caved to "The Man" to waste her time at a job she was "qualified" for to earn her way.
So she's still living in the US, attending Grad School, b/c mommy and daddy are footing the bill. Again.
Who's paying for your airfare? Rent? Food? Do you have a work visa? Job lined up?
Good luck to you.
I have savings lined up. Enough to last me about two years. With a student visa you can work part time too but with limited hours. I honestly hate people who rely on their parents for everything.
go to australia, it's amazing, I used to live there. Lots of jobs, good economy.
According to the Aussie small businessman I communicate with Ausralia is about ready to turn around and put the conservatives back in control but the libs in control now aren't anything to brag about.
Can you believe they are going to be charged a special flood tax to pay for the losses from that flood. Everyone gets to pay, even those in the west who had no flood. They have a lot more socialism there than most of them like but they tend to vote like we do here, change every few years.
Once you truly explore the world, you realize that America is not the best at everything. Sure, it is still a fantastic place to live compared to 90% of the world, but to think it is the only place where freedom or prosperity exists is being naive.
For some people, Europe is a more suitable place for them. Is it that hard for people to understand?
Aren't we supposed to be #1? We are the first nation in the world founded on democracy after all. Not the first democracy ever of course, because the Greeks came up with it first. But we're the first nation founded on democracy. You'd think with that kind of background that we could do it better than anyone else, but nooooo - low voter turnouts, voter fraud, corruption - it looks like we've tripped and fallen pretty hard.
If you don't have enough money for your education there are other ways to fund it.
I'll take this as a concession then, since you're basically arguing that people should be able to find alternative ways to pay for their education (i.e. not pay the full price straight up), even as college costs in America are rising sharply and people are taking on more and more debt in order to go to school, which clearly restricts their social mobility.
Looks like someone was born with a silver spoon in the mouth. Bet you wouldn't be singing this "we live in the greatest country in the world" tune if you were one of America's impoverished minorities, on government assistance, with no job, a GED and living in a city owned housing development.
Maybe not, but that is not the case. I don't live on 'what if's' and certainly do not tolerate petty jealousy.
For me, this is the greatest Country. If it is not for you, find a better place.
40,000 to 50,000 roughly. But would 100,000 be dead if we invaded in the first place? Doesn't matter if we killed them or not the fact we were there is the reason they are dead.
I asked about Americans killed there and you came back with 40,000 to 50,000. Is there any chance that you failed that test since your number is about 10 times too high? Yep, some left leaner has got his hands on you.
This is irrelevant to the conversation, since we're not talking about communist societies, nor is your point even true; it was not more of a means of social mobility in the USSR, which was highly nepotistic and corrupt, than in the modern capitalist United States, which is extremely concerned with credentialing and academic pedigree.
In the contemporary world, particularly in the advanced countries, the cheaper the education, assuming education has a legitimate effect on life chances, the freer the citizenry. When education is more expensive, people have fewer options in society. Period.
Is there any chance that you have been listening to some left leaning profs, too?

Sorry, I thought you meant civilians killed by American soldiers. But the amount of US soldiers dead is about 4,500 roughly.
