Could the English have defeated Germany by themselves? Maybe the Russians would have done very well with a one front war. I have studied that war that I lived through and think you are the one who needs to study up on it.
But it wasn't a one front war. Nazi Germany was fighting two fronts, an island and a large cold barren land with a spread population. Ever noticed how no super power throughout history could never conquer all Europe? Congrats now you know.
Ever hear of the fire bombing of Dresden? That was military vs populace.
I see that you have been influenced by some left leaning profs in college. I say this because I don't think the Germans sent unguided missiles into London and other cities trying to strike military forces. They were trying to do the same thing that was done in Germany,
Speaking of Germany and bombs. I know a co-pilot of a B-17 who told me about every time they went to Berlin the people along the route ran into their bomb shelters and then came back out to watch them return to England. Of course, the filthy Americans always had orders of what city to drop their load on if weather kept them from getting to their target, usually Berlin. One day they didn't want to drop all their bombs on the unsuspecting civilians but surely you know orders are orders. That specific attack has been written about ever since that day because the nasty Americans did thing like that.
In case you are too young and too prejudiced to understand, let me tell you that the planes of that day weren't stable enough to land with a load of bombs on and American lives meant a lot to our 8th Air Force.
For many it was the only means to move not only socially but geographically.
I hope you know more about Germany than about the USSR.
This is the second time you've deflected to your irrelevant interpretations of the use of education in the USSR and ignored the fact that high costs of education in contemporary capitalist societies severely limit people's choices. You are wrong, straight up.
You, OP, sound a lot like me when I was about to graduate from uni. I had less of the "evil corporations" attitude but I disliked many other things, including some things about American culture. After graduating I would go through cycles of working a few months, travel abroad, come back in debt, and do it all over again. I've been all over, Europe, Asia, parts of Central and South America.
But I am here now with a new appreciation for what we have. I still dislike some things and attitudes around me. But I've realized my enjoyment of my surroundings is entirely up to me. I travel around all parts of the US for work. I get to see some wonderful places and some very mundane places. The grass is always greener somewhere else but home is what you make of it. There are idiots anywhere you go.
Oh. Unlike the other progs here you have watched Beck, I see. You know you never have although you like to hear the progs scream about him and most of them never see him either.
I already found what I am looking for. I lived in it for one year and looking forward to going back. They truly live in a freer society than we do.
You studied abroad for a year?
You sound like a relative of mine who studied in Germany for the Jr year of her college career. Came back with a huge chip on her shoulder and an irrational sense of entitlement. General hygiene was not on her top 10 list of things anymore either. She too, wanted to return to live the life of Reilly she had as a student - and assumed everyone else who lived in Germany did as well.
But her parents wouldn't fund it and she was too "intellectual" and above other 22 year olds her age who caved to "The Man" to waste her time at a job she was "qualified" for to earn her way.
So she's still living in the US, attending Grad School, b/c mommy and daddy are footing the bill. Again.
Who's paying for your airfare? Rent? Food? Do you have a work visa? Job lined up?
Aren't we supposed to be #1? We are the first nation in the world founded on democracy after all. Not the first democracy ever of course, because the Greeks came up with it first. But we're the first nation founded on democracy. You'd think with that kind of background that we could do it better than anyone else, but nooooo - low voter turnouts, voter fraud, corruption - it looks like we've tripped and fallen pretty hard.
This is the second time you've deflected to your irrelevant interpretations of the use of education in the USSR and ignored the fact that high costs of education in contemporary capitalist societies severely limit people's choices. You are wrong, straight up.
If you don't have enough money for your education there are other ways to fund it.
