I like seeing ideas like this starting in my state. The governments only role in my marriage should be to certify and record that I was married, not give me permission.
Interesting article. I hope they can come up with more specifics as to what this new "contract" would ensue throughout society - IRS, churches, insurance, etc.

I would imagine it would be similar to birth certificates, just like marriage certificates were before licensing was introduced to stop interracial marriages.
I got married in the woods no state licence no blood test no nothin,till I got divorced the state was all over it and I lost big time. if they dont get you on the front end they will get you on the rear end. best to keep a low profile today. people are crazy to want to put these laws on thier freedoms but stupid is stupid
FYI - people who have common law standing can contract common law marriages (without the need of permission / license).
However, since 1935, and FICA, all "volunteers" surrendered their rights, so it's moot.
If you have "the number", you have no common law standing, and must get a license to wed.
If we have that then maqrried people would be considered two individauls inlaw. that means they would file separate income;that companies woud not have to furnish insurnace to bot fro one working;lthat the governamnt would ahve no control over married people. That would be fine with me as I prefer the church marriage myself . That was common in many countries for ages.But I really doubt it woulkd be liked by agys as they already have much the same thing.
I used this in another thread and it applies here.. There is no way constitutionally that one state can have gays married and another can't.. They can NOT provide gays a marriage license, but they HAVE to recognize a gay marriage performed in another state...
if my partner and I are married in Iowa and my job transfers us to Idaho.. Idaho doesn't have the right to tell us we're not married anymore.. They HAVE to recognize our marriage.. that's not how it is now, and it's unconstitutional.. the courts will fix this and there will be gays married everywhere.. whether or not they were married in that state or not..
