Interesting how oh so scary and potentially dangerous toppling a dictator is when it's done by peaceful demonstrations of the citizenry of the country in question, but DAMN THE TORPEDOES, FULL STEAM AHEAD when NEO-CONS want to send in the storm troopers.

Peaceful revolt = dangerous and scary

War of aggression = YAY!

Ridiculous.

Considering we are 1 day into an overthrowing of a dictator, in a country now under military rule (wouldn't call that a democracy would you?) with elections months away, I'm not sure how anyone can be completely confident that the outcome will be good or bad.
Parties haven't been started yet, we don't know who the candidiates will be or their political affiliation. So truthfully, we don't know if Egypt will back Democratic rule. We'll find out after their elections.

Basically its a crap shoot at this point.

No, the dangerous type of dictator toppling occurs when the strongest potential group to fill the vacuum are radical Islamists. Now you and Clapper may think the MB is filled with a bunch of swell guys, the reality is different.

I think we had a fair idea of who would fill the power vacuum.

Please. Spare me. You're no Middle Eastern scholar or expert, so stop pretending like you know anything about who or what is going to be the strongest leader to emerge. We sure got a great big vacuum bag full of crap in Iraq. But like I said:

Peaceful revolt by the citizenry = scary and dangerous

War of aggression = YAY! And if you don't agree, you're not a patriot, you don't love America and you're a "lefty" with a mental disease.

Some facts that should calm you down: Read these, avoid Glenn Beck, and you will soon stop crapping your pants.

Since its inception in 1928 the movement has officially opposed violent means to achieve its goals. Jeremy Bowen, BBC Middle East editor, calls it "conservative and non-violent,"The Brotherhood condemned terrorism and the 9/11 attacks, but whether or not it has ties to terrorism is a matter of dispute. The Brotherhood's nonviolent stance has resulted in breakaway groups from the movement, including the Al-Gama'a al-Islamiyya and Al Takfir Wal Hijra. Osama bin Laden has similarly criticized the Brotherhood, and accused it of betraying jihad and the ideals of Sayyid Qutb, an influential Brother member and author of Milestones.

The Brotherhood is still periodically subjected to mass arrests. It remains the largest opposition group in Egypt, advocating Islamic reform, democratic system and maintaining a vast network of support through Islamic charities working among poor Egyptians. The political direction it has been taking lately has tended towards more moderate secular "Islamism" and so-called Islamic Democracy comparable to Christian Democrat movements in Europe, the Christian-right in the United States, and the Muslim oriented democratic parties of Turkey.

OK so let me help you out here by asking you some leading questions.

What is the largets opposition group in Egypt?

What are the beliefs of the largest opposition group?

So go off, do a little research, and you wll find the Muslim Brotherhood is the largest opposition group and the are Islamic extremists. It is likely they will have a strong say in the future government of Egypt.

Please tell me why you believe there is a power vacuum in Iraq. They have had a series of elections, and Islamists have lost them all. There is a functioning government that is not in danger of being over thrown.

No one has questioned the left's patriotism.

You are exactly right. One day into the overthrowing of a determine dictator, hardly is rule to suggest everything will turn out great and dandy for the Egyptian People.

With elections still months away, anything can happen and things can go a muck. No one should yet be overly confident that this situtation is uder control, with things headed in the right direction.

Day to Day will tell us if most Egyptians will back up Democratic Rule.
