Sheila apparently does not have a sense of humor. I think the ad was funny and had SOME element of truth. I think there are also a lot of women of all races who act like this, it's just that black women are more noted for this.
Sheila Jackson is an idiot. And let me get this straight she wants Jordan and Chisolm in a commercial? Too funny.
But I did chuckle when she was introduced as "gentle woman!"

The commercial was lame but it wouldn't be the first lame commercial in multi $$$$ spots. The attitude towards women stinks, but I guess that's pepsi's new target audience? Males claiming victim hood is an awesome demographic. Just ask Limbaugh & Al Bundy.
Ok ladies, Pepsi would rather not have women drink soda. You're better off dropping it anyway. Water. Gatorade. Fruit smoothies are great. Deserves no attention beyond writing pepsi and asking the name of the boy wonder who thought up that ad. Same with the genius who thought up old navy "irish I were drunk" t shirts. I think they ought to get direct opportunity to harvest their applause from their general audience. Don't be bashful hiding out in your cubicle. Come on out now.

If it would have been a black girl, that the black guy was hitting on, we wouldn't even be having this discussion.
Black women, in so very many ways, have got the same problem that white guys have, when there is a portrayal of a black man hitting on a white woman, or a white woman hitting on a black man.
After looking at both of the videos, and having good friends, both black and white, for years, I can only come to the conclusion that Sheila Jackson Lee is a full blown racist.
This whole thing is more to do with racism than it is about anything else
I could see it as having a racial element at the end, perhaps unintended, although it's one I see more among black comedians themselves. Namely it maybe brings up the idea that black women "flip out" about white women or are insecure about them "taking our men." If you reversed it and a white woman threw a soda can because her beau was looking at a black gal it would likely have no impact, except to show her jealousy, but I guess it might also make the character look like a racist. (Or kind of "white trashy", not that I like that term. Although re-watching it I see she does apologize to the girl)
I think the main problem with the ad is it seems like we should be nearing the age where women doing domestic violence to men is no longer that funny. I mean it's lighthearted and it doesn't bother me too much, but it did come close to crossing the line to uncomfortable for me. At what level does violence or abuse of a man who offers no resistance cross the line from comical to upsetting? Long ago I defended the pilot of the Good Wife for showing her slapping her husband as I felt her husband was much bigger than her (so likely not hurt) and it was an isolated incident related to him soliciting prostitutes. However this woman looks roughly his size, I think, and seems to be doing stuff to him without reason or at least with way less reason than the "Good Wife's" reason of "My husband got caught paying for sex and I was pressed to stand by him at his press conference about it." (I guess the idea is she's trying to keep him on his diet, but her actions still seem rather extreme in doing that)
Lastly some of the comments on the video are pretty clearly racist, which seems not too uncommon of Youtube commenters. Saying racist stuff seems to be a thing some trolls use to rile people.
