So who is really benefiting from the lack of UHC?

Why UHC isnt a right?

It is a right in Europe, Canada, and OZ. Even in some developing countries.
UHC should be a right. If I am going to pay any type of federal tax I want it to go for something I can use - e.g. universal health care. Any one that "thinks" a doctor will treat you any differently - and I mean a good doctor, whether you have Medicaid or Aetna or Tricare or BCBS, your mistaken.

What is wrong with this country when private industry is
involved in Medicaid which is a free program paid for by
taxpayers. Medicare, Prisoners, POOR, PUBLIC UNION workers - the list goes on. THIS IS WHERE PRIVATE
INDUSTRY IS MAKING THE MOST MONEY

Wager to say there are probably only 30 percent of the
population that is not subsidized in one way or another
to pay insurance premiums.

MEDICARE FOR ALL - JOIN THE 21st century.

Medicare for All: Improved Medicare for All

I'll gladly pay an increased Medicare tax instead of
stuffing myself with a hamburger tomorrow
or making useless PRIVATE insurance companies and
BIG PHARM richer.

And quit taxing cigarettes to pay for CHIP (children
health care plan) The whole system is smoke and mirrors.

It is truly the craziest system I have ever seen

Alrighty then...I have had two major health problems in the last six years...The first was pancreatitis ....Hospitalized and treated immediately. The second was a blocked artery in my heart...Hospitalized and treated immediately. The only thing I ever had to wait for was to get a cyst removed from a finger...I have never had a problem with having a family doctor, and have never had to wait more than a week for any procedure or tests, and being 70 have had lots of them...Blood tests etc are generally done the same day, unless I have to fast.

I have atrial fibrillation and am considering radio ablation...We will see how long I have to wait if my cardiologist decides that it would be wise to do....I'll let you know.

Canada has produced a disproportionately large number of major biomedical breakthroughs. Canadian Medicine: Canada's greatest medical research

It is very very very expensive.
You have other countries paying $10 or more a gallon for gas because most of that gas costs goes to Socialized medicine. Huge percentages of salaries in other places also go to paying for this kind of expensive care.

Makes no sense to shoot ourselves in the foot like that.

Socialism is not compatable with the US Constitution. Nationalized health care is the largest form of socialism/social enginnering and control there is. Why does anyone want to give the government the power of life and death over them, for a little security? Is that all your liberty is worth to you? Really? I suggest moving to one of the contries that offers you security in exchange for your freedom if you value your freedom so little.
So we need to wake up and realize how good we have it in turning over our health care ove to the insurance companies who have to be mindful of making a profit?

Yes, Sanrene, let's just let our ill citizens drop dead or go broke. We have
plenty of examples where we "waste billions of tax dollars" around the world. As long as we have the IRS, I want my tax dollars to benefit all the citizens in MY country.

Medicare for all is my motto. Anything less - at this juncture,
is just damn backwards and stupid.

If you can buy some outrageous level of care in a great policy you can get you hundreds of thousands of dollars of treatment.
Most people can expect the basics, but there isn't enough other people's money to pay for Presidential care for everyone IMO.

Medicare covers less and denies more than any other insurance by the way, so you are asking to curse us all.

Allow me to present a different hypothesis:

You're a liar.

You post this nonsense about the reason for higher gas prices in the rest of the world being because they need to pay for UHC in thread after thread. Then it gets pointed out to you that the rest of the developed worlds health care systems are in fact, radically cheaper than the US system, and you run away. Then post the same crap in the next thread as if you didn't know better.

For your general information, for the nth time: Every other developed country does health care cheaper than the US system.

Source: the Economist.

Now here is another fascinating point: Those UHC countries that cover everyone? Several of their governments spend less per citizen that the American government does!

What does that mean? Well, it means that the governments of such places as Canada, the UK, Switzerland, in fact the average developed country, spends less on UHC than the US government is spending on health care at the moment!

That is how much cheaper UHC is.

Oh, PS: The reason gas prices are higher in other countries is because the car culture in the US makes increasing gas prices cost the politicans more votes than in other countries. So US politicans are more reluctant to tax gas as highly.

health insurance is not a right. the right to live is not a right on either the democratic nor republican side.

if it was, then democrats would not be in favor of abortions, and republicans would not be in favor of the death penalty.
