Under the T-Friendly Bathroom Initiative, this year 500 businesses and organizations will be asked to sign a pledge that they will allow gender-variant customers to use the restroom of their choice. Those signing the pledge will receive a window decal so that potential customers can easily identify them.

I don't see the big deal about same-gender bathrooms in restaurants. A lot of the restaurants I've been to have same-gender bathrooms. But I really wouldn't like the idea of them in schools or in public places (like at the beach, playgrounds and parks for instance).

It's actually got a revolving sign. You just spin it around to mean whatever you want it to be at the moment.

No, apparently there would still be separate restrooms for men and women, but transgendered people would be able to choose either the men's or women's restroom and not get into trouble. Let's call it a "special right" since that term always sets some people off.

Surely it would cause less problems to use the washroom where you are least conspicuous. If you look and dress like a woman then use the woman's restroom - if you look like Jim Belushi in drag then use the men's room. In new buildings make a one-holer "family" restroom that anyone can use.

I saw Jayne County about 30 years ago at a small club. Not sure which restroom she used.
