So Obama wants more spending "investment" in his proposed budget as he took from taxpayers via the "stimulus" and yet the White House is not willing to send a representative to testify as to the results of the stimulus?

How is this "transparent"?

White House Economists Won’t Testify on Stimulus - Washington Wire - WSJ

Quote:
The Obama White House won’t be sending a witness to defend the economic-stimulus package before a House Oversight Committee panel Wednesday.

The committee is holding a hearing on the impact of the stimulus package, which President Barack Obama signed almost two years ago. Testimony will come from a lineup of conservative economists, plus Josh Bivens of the left-leaning Economic Policy Institute, who was picked by committee Democrats.

So?

He's willing to let the evidence be given by "a lineup of conservative economists".

What's the problem?

Afraid the conservatives may say it's worked?

I suspect they will not because they cannot. Likely the White House is attempting to avoid another embarrasing review of the stimulus results like it received recently over Obama's proposed budget numbers as they relate to the deficit.

Another punt.

So why did your OP even give the option if it was meant as a a Hobson's choice?

The unsubstantiated claim of a successful stimulus is one of Obama's main platforms for every spending bill pushed and will be in his re-election campaign. He cannot afford to send a representative when there is no proof of results that back his claims of success.

An option would have been a poll question which obviously this was not. If you believe have a plausible explaination please feel free to contribute to the thread rather than making a personal attack about the original post.

It will be reviewed whether a 'representative' is there or not.

How is that attempting to avoid a review?

How nit-pickey can people be?

Every budget proposed by every president has been seen in a negative light by one group or another. Nothing new there.
