Ok, as the Child, ( they are children because they sure as hell are not baby goats-so much for the incorrect term of kids, wouldn't you say?) the teacher says for today, we are going outside to practice a protest. Let's say Johnny stands up when the rest of the class does, but he decides he isn't going outside. Teacher then reminds him this is a graded assignment and failure to do this means flunking the qtr. Now what do you call that? My brother lives in Wi., and that is exactly what the children and my nephew were told. Now how can 1 defend it.

Kid is accepted usage in the US.
Might want to look at your own post before you correct others for word useage that is completely acceptable in the US.
