In this day and age of anti police, anti government, et al, things are truly starting to get out of hand. 2011 is already, after not even 2 months, been one of the bloodiest years for law enforcement in OUR countries history. It is only going to get worse. Men and women are fighting and dying; right
here. In The United States of America and little is being done about it and/or is there much talk.

The US isn't Iraq and it isn't Afghanistan. Yes, there are bad cops; however, the VAST majority of police officers are good, decent persons, fighting for you.

This blatant, vicious attacks and killings of police officers, need to stop. Its the beginning of attacks against the general populace of this country.

The deputies, along with members of the West Virginia State Police and the Mountain State Fugitive Task Force, were serving an arrest warrant on Charles E. Smith, 50, who was wanted on a charge related to possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, as well as a felon in possession of a firearm charge, Carter said.
Perhaps if our criminal justice system didn't put dangerous felons back on the street this wouldn't happen as frequently.

Feel bad for them.

The vast majority of the public is good. Yet many are dying at the hands of officers every day. Where is their outrage?

The blatant vicious killing of law abiding citizens needs to stop. It IS the beginning of attacks on the populous of this country.

It seems like a lot of the shooters involved in recent police killings are ex-felons who have vowed to themselves never to return to prison, and to "go down fighting" instead. There is no real way to put a "stop" to that sort of mentality; it's just a hazard of the job.

Now see.... Even a broken clock is right twice a day. rep to you. I'm not sure how many people realize what a problem this is. Besides it doesn't seem prisons are doing a good job of rehabilitation. I'd hate to think we need to build more prisons, but something needs to be done to keep some of these animals off the streets. Last January a female in Wilmington, Delaware ran over and dragged a 9 year old boy about 400 ft to his death, when she finally stopped the car she got out and ran(He was playing with a new scooter that he got for Christmas) She was picked up later for breaking a curfew, in February. Just a few days ago the judge gave her a year in prison with some community service nonsense. Well since she was put into prison last February this woman will now get out in March 2011. You can search this story on Delawareonline. The whole thing makes me sick and we at least need a revamping of laws in this country.

Whats worse living next to a pedophile or this woman?

States are currently trying to reduce their inmate populations due to the costs of maintaining such large prison systems. They don't have much room to "grow" in terms of their correctional systems anymore. It is very, very pricey to incarcerate as many people as a lot of states incarcerate. Especially as they age, and require more and more medical care.

Sad society we live in all the technical advances made etc, still sad. We do have bad cops killing the innocent, and innocent Police being killed by thugs.
But the majortiy are good hard working police working hard to keep our streets and us safe. The bad do not outweigh the good ones. Now the thugs is another story, they can all go into a war zone and fight it out, i truly don't care.

Recently in St. Louis the cops shot and killed a sheriff's deputy. During a commotion, the off-duty deputy was reaching for the badge in his shirt pocket to show and cops said they thought he was reaching for a gun.

Prisions are NOT designed to rehabilitate anybody. They are warehouses where people who don't respect the law more often than not form gangs for self protection and learn how TO BE BETTER CRIMINALS.

St. Louis City Sheriff's deputies are not POST certified law enforcement officers. They have no off duty powers beyond that of a random civilian. St. Louis County Sheriff's deputies are POST certified, as are St. Louis County Police officers, and St. Louis City Metropolitan Police officers.

In addition to not being a real cop, the deputy in question was also drunk and fighting with the guy.
