I was not a supporter of the Iraq war and I wish it had never happened. The Iraqi citizens have suffered like few people in modern times, I dont disagree with that. But to bill us for damage while we were trying to "improve" their situation is very tactless.
Who are we to go about doing that? Can't complain enough about deficit spending at home, but we must go "improve" situation half way around the globe,
Dude, we're talking about Iraq here. Did Iraq ask to be invaded? I'm talking about in 2003. There is no way in hell that you can tell me that we invaded in 2003 because we were finishing up what we started back in Desert Storm. That's ridiculous on it's face.
Not really.
Iraq invaded Kuwait and was given many chances to withdraw or face military consequences. Saddam opted to not withdraw. Desert Storm happened.
That ended only in a cease-fire, NOT a peace treaty.
In a cease-fire agreement, you agree to stop warring only on the contingency that you keep honouring the terms of that cease-fire.
Iraq violated the cease-fire in multiple ways.
Therefore, the other party to that cease-fire may choose to resume hostilities at a time of their choosing.
Under those terms, Bush didn't even need to consult with Congress...but he did. Congress gave him the authority...with a large majority of Democrats voting Yea I might add.
U.S military contractors made tons of money in Iraq as there wasn't really any oversight on spending or awarding contracts, leaders of Sunnis and Shiites got paid during the troop surge to keep the peace amongst tribesmen. All on the American taxpayers back. Iraq may go down as one of the biggest financial disasters of all time. For what, really.

Well seeing as how this is America you are allowed to be naive if you choose. Alfred E Newman just finishing what his daddy should have. Are you also going to tell me Iraq had nothing to do with oil and the stability of the region?

LMAO@ Alfred E. Newman.
Uh...sure, they had something to do with oil and the stability of the region. But there are lots of countries in that region that have something to do with one or both of those things. So what?
