Ugh, here we go again.

When the right does something bad, the left complains. When the left does something bad, the right complains. No one ever calls out on people within their aisle.

The political polarization of our media, coupled with the hypocrisy of the pundits and politicians, is a national disgrace.

Go back to work you ignorant union supporting trash, the whole reason the people are taking power away from these unions is because they're inefficient and corrupt... fleeing the scene of a vote just proves that the people are right.
So I guess Walker is an ignorant Police & Firefighter Union supporting trash then?

This thread isn't about the Police and Firefighting Union, nice try changing the subject though. Once these teachers come back down to earth and realize that everyone is hurting and they need to share in the pain they'll move on to the police and firefighters who also need to share in the pain that everyone else is feeling. A union contract shouldn't relieve a person from the pain of a recession when a lot of their policies contribute to the budget deficits we face in our states today.

If a teacher, firefighter or police officer demands a fat raise each year, guaranteed tenure, fully paid pension and full health-care for life without paying a penny towards those benefits even in this hard economy with 10% unemployment they deserve to lose everything in the fight. Be reasonable, everyone else is hurting, it's time to feel the pain like those of us in the private sector who pay for those benefits.

Did they really think they wouldn't be found and forced back? I guess they should have read their job descriptions before running for office, sometimes it ain't fun I guess.

Well you said Union supporting trash, not teacher Union supporting trash.

The fact that the Police and Firefighter Unions are not included in this results in the givebacks being even more costly than they otherwise would have been if all Unions were included.

Interesting article that puts the current budget woes not on Union costs, but rather on policies put forth by Walker in his first few days

Quote:
You can read the fiscal bureaus report here (PDF). It holds that "more than half" of the new shortfall comes from three of Walker's initiatives:

$25 million for an economic development fund for job creation, which still holds $73 million because of anemic job growth.
$48 million for private health savings accounts -- a perennial Republican favorite.
$67 million for a tax incentive plan that benefits employers, but at levels too low to spur hiring.
In essence, public workers are being asked to pick up the tab for this agenda. "The provisions in his bill do two things simultaneously," Norman says. "They remove bargaining rights, and having accomplished that, make changes in the benefit packages." That's how Walker's plan saves money. And when it's all said and done, these workers will have lost their bargaining rights going forward in perpetuity.

The democrats are trying to force the republicans back to the bargaining table with the unions, because the R's have refused to even try to work with them on any type of compromise. The Senate can't hold a vote on anything unless at least one Democratic Senator is present--that's why they left. They're not being chicken--they're basically telling the R's where they can shove it.

I have a friend who works in Madison, and evidently the statehouse is so full of people from all walks of life--not just union members--protesting this, that they have a line that wraps around the block to even let them in the building, and then it's packed inside. The police estimate 13,000 people showed up for a rally there the other day, and the numbers are growing, not declining.

I'm not a liberal, and I think some unions carry their demands too far, but that doesn't seem to be the case at all here, and the way the governor has handled this is outrageous. I think the democrats are having a nice little "tea party" style rally of their own over this. I think working and middle class people are fed up with being dumped on by the R's in this country, and things are about to start blowing up. The same thing is evidently starting in Ohio...
