Plenty of middle class Americans work, without belonging to unions and without harming the income of others in the school system. There are plenty of non-unionized "workers" within these closed school districts who are losing income every day that the schools are closed because of the selfish tantrum these unionized teachers are throwing.
Bottom line is, they will not accept their ability to collectively bargain for their rights to be legislated away. Collective bargaining is the whole purpose of a union. You remove that and there is no union. They will never accept this.

The gov. does not want to negotiate. What they will not accept is the arbitrary cancellation of their collective bargaining power. This fight is really cut and dried. The republicans want to smash the power of the unions once and for all. The Democrats believe in the rights of the workers to collective bargain for their benefits and pay. The battle lines are drawn. We'll see how it plays out.

That is certainly true, and he wants to return the power to the people, not an entrenched special interest.

Default ARRRRRRRGH ! "What A "Rogues Gallery"

01Snake !!! ... Your Post Is On The Money !

Indeed ... What a "Rogues Gallery" these blighters represent !

Who in their right mind would desire such as these to occupy positions of political leadership at any level ? What ?

For shame America ! Surely we can do better than this lot !!!

Listen up mates ... This is not the once proud and respected Democratic Party Mindset that we once had the pleasure of experiencing !!!

How utterly pitiful !

Excellent opinion peice, you would do well to read.

Right Turn - A decisive moment: Public employee unions or the common good?

"It is a crucial moment for the country and the Democratic Party. Will the latter align itself against the former? Is the co-dependency between organized labor and the Democratic Party to be the demise of both? Stay tuned. But if you want to see grown-up leadership, watch which pols rise in defense of Gov. Walker."

And thank you for admiting the power currently resides with the union and not the people. You may be for a special interest to run our educational system. I prefer the people run the system.

How pathetic of a life does one lead when those 14 individuals/POS are your heroes?

yet another rhetorical question..

I personally wouldn't trust a one of them to mow my lawn and that's off appearance alone. Knowing what I know about them now, I definitely wouldn't hire them. Hell, McDonalds would've fired them from their fry cook position about four days ago..
