OKLAHOMA CITY -A state that has been considered the heart of the nation's Indian Country since the Trail of Tears nearly two centuries ago now has more residents who identify themselves as Hispanic than Native American, according to figures released Tuesday by the U.S. Census Bureau.
You cannot be serious. Just because you haven't met people you think they are extinct?
I never said they were exist. What's the percent of Native Americans in the US? 1%, 2%, wow, those are huge numbers, I can't believe another group surpassed them!!! Stop the presses.
I thought most of the Native Americans were long gone? I don't remember the last time I've met a Native American family.
There are about 2 million of them in the US. Alaska is about 15% indigenous. Technically speaking there are plenty of them if we count Latin America like in Bolivia(where they account for 55% of the country's pop.) and Peru. When they come to the US, they are masked under the semi-racial term "Hispanic".

Being that there are over 300 million people in the US, that comes to less than 1%. Amazing that a group outnumbers them. What's next, Hispanics outnumber Samoans? Now if you said Hispanics outnumber Irish in Boston.

Yeah I'm not suprise that they are no longer than largest minority in that state. Since the indigenious population is so small to begin with and Oklahoma is just north of Texas, it was going to happen sooner or later.

Oklahoma has a border in Texas and the state's economy is in very good shape (Oklahoma City did great), the rising of Hispanics Oklahomans is unavoidable
Great to see a state like that becoming more diverse.
