No. Being colorblind will still help those of color, just not exclusively.

Where did I say it was? There are cultural difference among Black Americans just like there are cultural differences among White Americans.

Low academic performance is about culture, income and resources NOT race.

The same people that complain about "hand-outs" to minorities see no problem with using their connections to get their children into prestigious private schools and colleges. They have zero qualms about giving their children "the advantage". But heaven forbid a "brown" child gets a hand-up to help themselves to have a successful future.

This is not a liberal vs conservative argument...this is about helping America's children (all of America's children) to be productive in the future. The sooner that some people realize that America's future does not equate to strictly giving academic advantages to wealthy White children, the better America's future will be.
Hey wait a minute. I am white and my parents were lousy parents. How do I achieve superior education? I can't, because I'm white! I'm doomed to flip burgers and live in my mother's basement for the rest of my life.

You silly minority pushers.

A NYC DOE spokesman said something about outreach. Uh, what about kids taking mature initiative and reaching out to these elite schools and finding out early on how to get in?? (the earlier the better, meaning not putting it off until the last half of 8th grade)

The latino and black cultures don't put the same emphasis on education as whites and asians typically do. There are exceptions of course, think along the lines of 60/40 or 70/30% or so. So, the next time you want to praise multiculturalism just try to remember different cultures/subcultures often have cultural values far different from your own.

Which basically maens what?....fu@k blacks and latino students???

What has multicuturalism got to do with this topic??..or is this another bigotted view from the "fly over" people.

I don't hear from you all often, the last time was when one of you all claimed that as soon as a black man was voted in as President, we automatically had a second string President in office.

Just so I'm striaight on your meaning as to how "subcultures" are different, do you mean that I don't value education in my house, require that my children are respectful and well behaved...what exactly do you mean when you say my culture is so much different than yours??

I grew up in Brooklyn, NY. The New York Public Library is free for the rich and the poor. You are going to have a lot more educational resources in a city than you will in a rural area. You don't need high quality resources in order to learn basic math and reading. Children used to learn in a one room school house and they did just fine. The quality of resources has nothing to do with learning the basics, it's the negative attitude kids have towards education.

If a child can't learn basic math and reading skills, there is no reason to complain that they can't be accepted into an elite school

You get way too wound up and think everything is racist. You really need to calm down and take it down a notch or two.
