The government eventually admits to being wrong when it's popular among the majority for it to do so and will not cause any serious legal/financial repercussions by doing so.

You haven't seen whats in schools have you? They have pot leaf "drugs are bad" signs up in my sons school now.
It hasn't gone away, they are still screaming "its bad for you, and I know more about what you need than you do"
