What’s happening in Wisconsin and Congress is incredibly sad. Does anyone remember that Republicans are not only anti-union, they vehemently opposed both Medicare and Social Security? Has anyone noticed that for decades first blue collar and then white collar jobs have been outsourced to other countries? Has anyone noticed that many of the jobs that remain no longer provide company paid pensions or healthcare? Maybe unions wielded too much power once, but the solution wasn't to ship all our jobs to third world countries so corporations could reap higher profits any pay their exectives millions--even when they make very bad decisions.

Has anybody noticed that the banking and insurance industries have been bilking and defrauding American consumers? Has anyone noticed the dramatic climatic changes brought about by global warming? Have we forgotten the BP Gulf oil spill so soon? How can any politician, Democrat or Republican, believe that Corporate America needs less rather than more government regulation?

And when did the people of this country decide taxes are an affront rather than a responsibility? When did a quality education, healthcare, shelter and a full stomach become a privilege?

The chasm between the wealthy and the rest of America is widening. Cutting taxes may help corporate bottom lines and make the rich even richer, but it will not save America’s rapidly disappearing middle class. We are being led like lambs to the slaughter by the false promises of politicians whose allegiance is not to their country but to their Party and the special interests that fund their campaigns.

America is changing and not for the better. Unless someone turns this ship around, the American Dream will be only a memory.

I wonder if YOU have noticed that it is the unions that are driving many of our jobs overseas? Employers are in business to make money and if their union employees are sucking them dry, they leave. They do not have the cost, the lazy employees or the whiners to put up with.

We also have a country filling up with illegal immigrants who the left fully supports. That only results in employers being able to pay the lowest wages with no benefits.

Wonderful post! Welcome, but be prepared for a full frontal attack from those who swallow the propaganda hook line and sinker.

Are you just noticing that our government is not FOR the people anymore ?

We are nothing to them but cash cows..giving, giving, giving our money away to them.

Don't worry the GOP is shooting itself in their foot as fast as they can and the voters WILL remember it next year, make sure you do so also.

Who granted the first amnesty and basically put up the sign at the border sneak in and work until the next amnesty is granted. Who said family values do not stop at the Rio Grande??? Sick of this BS it's all the left's fault when the right is also providing cheap labor to their cronies in the corporate world.

According to data from the University of Michigan's American National Election Study, in 1952, about 80% of union members were blue-collar workers, while 20% were white-collar workers; by the mid-1990s, those classified as white-collar workers gained majority status. Nor do men dominate unions any longer: In the 1950s, more than 80% of union members were men, but today there is near gender parity. Union members also have much more schooling than they once did. In 1960, more than 35% of union members had not finished high school and barely 2% had college degrees. Today, almost every union member has completed high school, and more than 25% have college degrees. The typical union member no longer lives in a major city center close to the factory; by the 1990s, union members were more likely to live in suburban than urban areas. Unions have also become multi-racial: Nearly a quarter of union members are now non-white. Unions today represent a vastly different slice of America than they did at the height of the country's manufacturing prowess.
