Conservatives bitterly complain about how wrong redistribution of wealth is. So they believe that government welfare should be abolished and in its place private charities used to help the needy. But under that system redistribution of wealth would still have to occur, only the charities would be doing it.
You obviously misunderstand the point.
MY money goes to the government and THEY decide who to distribute it to.
When I donate, I chose where the money goes.
Charity is not forced "redistribution". Government taxation is.
I wonder just what Repugs DO want their taxes spent on?
Well, I know they like war and bloodshed so they should be happy about that even if the military is one of the biggest money wasters, rife with fraud and corruption....monogramed towels for soldiers in Iraq? Repugs NEED that.
Corporations pay almost no income tax....and we make up the difference(please don't tell me how high their taxes are, they, through loopholes, do NOT pay them)...Repugs don't mind.
So what else do Repugs think taxes should pay for?? It IS a mystery???
You cannot measure all liberals by the behavior of TWO people. And I would say that both Kerry and Gore did contribute to the poor and needy with their tax dollars.
We all do.
The point is, conservatives are much more generous to the poor with THEIR OWN MONEY!
Look at obama's and biden's "charitable giving" as well.
There is a pattern of greed throughout the liberal elite.
"No one should suffer because they lack {fill in the blank}" should be prefaced with "No one should be compelled to labor for the benefit of another, so that..." because slavery is not an acceptable solution to the ills of mankind.
Voluntary charity is a blessing.
Compulsory charity is a curse.
A man who wants to share his property is admirable.
A man who wants to coerce you to share your property is despicable.
A man who wants government to compel you to "share your wealth" is president.
Since 1935, the USA has been socialist, so you can't blame "capitalism".
Prior to the 1900s, most infrastructure was privately owned and operated.
Coincidentally, under the wise management of the public sector, our infrastructure is abysmal. And their solution to the mismanagement: "GIVE US MORE MONEY!"
{You really think that will improve things?}
FWIW - socialism is not synonymous with public property.
Socialism is collective ownership, and the abolition of private property (absolute ownership by individuals)
AND they do not want the govt giving any assistance to the less fortunate, from food stamps to medicaid. They're very concerned about their money first and foremost. They don't seem to value people (via the govt) helping and taking care of each other. It's only the charities THEY CHOOSE and only the time THEY CHOOSE to give. They are very vocal about not wanting a society which values the people (ie their govt) doing anything to protect and assist ALL ITS CITIZENS.
The focus of the Conservative Movement is the perservation and expansion of social, political and economic power of White Christian Americans and the preservation and expansion of power for corporate interests. Everything Conservatives say and do focus on these areas.

What conservatives really want: individual responsiblity and accountability! A foreign concept to some.
