On her MSNBC program, Rachel Maddow explained what the protests in Wisconsin are really all about. Maddow said, “What’s happening in Wisconsin right now is not about a budget. This is about elections. This is about the Republican Party going after the institutions that make it possible for Democrats to win elections in America.”
Wow, I can't believe she admitted it. Her handlers were probably furious. Yes, this is all about Democrats trying to keep their powerbase intact. Democrat lawmakers give sweet deals to their union cronies that they know they won't be able to keep down the road and in exchange the union cronies bring in the money and the votes to keep the Democrats in power. If public employees are forced to live like the rest of us without their 1950-era perks then suddenly the entire Democrat backscratching machine falls to pieces.
After it breaks in Wisconsin other states will follow. By this time next year hopefully everyone will remember that they public employees work for US and not the other way around. Public employees total compensation package of benefits and wages should never exceed 90% of what the average person in the private sector gets doing the same job. Otherwise we are starving skilled talent out of hte privet sector where it can actually grow the economy and instead encouraging it to go into the public sector where it will just sit, get fat, and wait for its juicy retirement benefits.
so what she is really saying is the dmeocrats are paying off the teahers unions to get their vote and organiztion abilties. That is nothig new as the stimulus spending showed;it never was a huge infrastructure and with the related job bill. Voters have said that thios specail nterest needs to be rained in to balance the budget.
Is this really any different than corporations making campaign contributions and getting politicians in office that then turn around and make sure these companies get tax breaks, government subsidies, preferential treatment in government contracts, reduced environmental and safety regulations or other political favors?
Or are you just O.K. when corporations do it but heaven forbid a union actually make a political contribution to garner political support for a particular issue?
Either way the present campaign and election process is set up so that in order for politicians to be elected they have go out and raise money to compete. Until that changes political support for issues is going to be linked to campaign contributions.
maddow is a liar and the unions are ENTIRELY POLITICALLY MOTIVATED for Democrats.
And Corporations and the Conservative wealthy like the Koch Brothers that finance Tea Party astroturf groups and lackeys like Governor Walker are ENTIRELY POLITICALLY MOVTIVATED FOR REPUBLICANS!

It is true. The unions extort money from the taxpayers via Dem lawmakers and they funnel a piece back to them. It is time to end this practice.
The corporations and the rich extort take breaks, subsidies and bailouts from the tax payers via Republican lawmakers and they funnel a piece back to them. It's time to end this practice.
