YES!!!

Also, if you have anything like a Face Book page, get anything that could be seen as negative off.

In fact I tell people to delete them.

Or, not used to going to work.....

I realize there is no ( law) against it but honestly what are your opinions regarding this current practice of employers refusing to hire the unemployed simply because they ARE unemployed ?

From The People Place Job Recruiting : "Client will not consider/review anyone NOT currently employed regardless of the reason."

Sony Erricson : Sony Ericsson, a global phone manufacturer that recently announced that it would be bringing 180 new jobs to the Buckhead, Ga. area, also recently posted an ad for a marketing position on The People Place. The add specified: "NO UNEMPLOYED CANDIDATES WILL BE CONSIDERED AT ALL."

Restaurant in Edgewater, NJ " Must be currently employed "
.

A company's choice to ignore unemployed applicants and recycle the current workforce ignores the effect of the recession on millions of highly-qualified workers and could prolong the unemployment crisis, said Judy Conti, federal advocacy coordinator for the National Employment Law Project.
You do realize marx was wrong don't you? Planned economies do not function. Just why is it the communists chinese seem to know this and american liberal/leftists and the democratic party doesn't seem to know this? I'm stumped.

perhaps.

i don't think it would take very long for most people to get back into the groove, though.

i was out of work for 6 months at the very beginning of the downturn, and when i found another position, i was so glad to be working again that i came in early and left late for at least the first 18 months. now i only leave late

Hiring should be based on whatever the employer thinks it should be based on. It's not up to ANYONE else to make that decision

And for every currently employed hired, a spot is freed for someone else.

I'd agree. Certainly there is lot of good people that have lost their jobs but when employers start cutting the first to go is the dead weight followed by the slackers and then they start digging into the expensive employees making a lot of money that might not be quite necessary. End result is you have slimmed down work force with experienced employees that aren't costing you a fortune, that's one of the reasons per employee production has risen dramatically since the recession started. These are the people you want working for you because they will give you the biggest bang for your buck.

I had a friend who was unemployed for six months...no bites no nothing. She started volunteering at the public library after she turned her internet off just so she could get the extra online time. The librarian suggested that she put that she was a staff member for the Orange County library and within a couple of days she started getting calls.

The hiring people like to hire people that are already working.

You can't MAKE companies hire you just like the government CANNOT create jobs.

Since when did it become a companies obligation to fix the recession?

And why do we think jobs for the sake of jobs will get us out of the recession? The unemployment rate was very low during WW2. The economy was terrible.

An employer should be free to discriminate against anyone they want to for any reason. Matter of fact, they shouldn't have to have a reason.
