Good teachers deserve to be paid a nice salary. Of course budgets have their limitiations as with any profession.
The subpar teachers do not deserve the same pay. Yet their unions believe subpar teachers need to be paid on equal footing with the good teachers.
out of all the highly paid professions out there, i've never heard anyone complain about teachers being overpaid. yes the averages may be high, but that is certainly not where you start, you have to go through more education and experience to get there.
but to answer your question, the answer is no! teachers sometimes spend more time around kids then their own parents. they become teachers, babysitters, mentors, etc. they shape lives, there are way less influential people out there making way more
But is that any more difficult then what other working people do? Would you say the same about a Chemical Engineer that works all year 60 hours a week for example? I doubt it.
If looked at by how much they get paid per hour, they get paid very well.
Ahahahahaha, if you've never spent time in a classroom observing, you haven't lived! Herding cats for a living is harder work than most people realize.
Paid per hour? Divide it by 25-40 students and see how well they're paid. You couldn't get me into a classroom like that for ANY amount of money.
Um.... this depends on WHERE in the country the teacher is.
In my neck of the woods a top teacher salary would probably be 60s-70s.... not an AVERAGE salary.
40s is probably more like it.
I have friends that work retail and make more than that. With 6 weeks vacation and a 50% discount to boot!
