No it is not fine and dandy. It is illegal under the 2003 Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act which has been upheld by the Supreme Court.

An identical thread was started back in November about the wacko's out in San Fran....

//www.city-data.com/forum/san-f...cumcision.html

I've given up trying to understand those people out in San Fran, maybe it's something in the fog that rolls in from the bay that make them into left wing loonies?

"San Francisco may ban circumcision - human rights issue"

Leave it to the gays to come up with this.

Agree, San Fran is a beautiful city, it's just the inhabitants that are off the wall....

Only 15% (approx) of San Franciscans are gay.... so how can you blame this on "the gays".

I sure hope so. They are taking things too far. I could never ever live in a city that is so paternalistic that it's going to supersede any and all religious, hygienic, or social implications and tell me what I should do with my children because of its own opinion on the matter.

And aren't they implementing programs encouraging (not requiring) males to be circumcised in Africa to reduce HIV transmission? And doesn't San Francisco already have a big HIV problem? Did the people supporting this ban even consider that?
