No it is not fine and dandy. It is illegal under the 2003 Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act which has been upheld by the Supreme Court.

I sure hope so. They are taking things too far. I could never ever live in a city that is so paternalistic that it's going to supersede any and all religious, hygienic, or social implications and tell me what I should do with my children because of its own opinion on the matter.
And aren't they implementing programs encouraging (not requiring) males to be circumcised in Africa to reduce HIV transmission? And doesn't San Francisco already have a big HIV problem? Did the people supporting this ban even consider that?
