Justice for sale. If you have money you get off. If you have money you can buy inmates for your privet prison. Out right buying of people is just around the corner. We had a war over this and it will be a sad day when it comes back.
This is what happens when business enterprise and government try a partnership. We get frankenstien government and welfare queen corporations. The core mission of one or both seem to get corrupted/ undermined. We need to cut the cord of lobbyist money across the board. Campaigns can be financed through general funds for debates/ print interviews, and petitioning the law can be done online with transparency. No paper (currency or letter campaigns) necessary.
We get crap like this because of the "tough on crime" nonsense that was so pervasive a few election cycles ago and before. Folks might be ticked off about the judge in hindsight knowing that he took the bribes, but i can guarantee you that when he was handing out those ridiculous sentences, folks were cheering like they were at a football game.
For a little perspective, just remember judges start out as lawyers and we know what motivates them.
