Thank you for injecting reason into this "debate." I have had breast cancer. I also work in the medical profession. I would not take this drug if it were offered to me free!
Well, that would be your choice. But it seems there are many people who would. I would also imagine that if nothing else was working for you and it did, you'd feel differently. This is an end stage drug afterall.
Led by the Susan B. Komen Foundation for a Cure, 15 patient advocacy groups have petitioned the FDA to reverse their effort to ration the drug. In a letter to the FDA, Elizabeth Thompson, the organization’s President, expresses concern over the potential negative impact that the FDA’s decision will have on women who are benefiting from Avastin:
"We know that for some number of women, Avastin works and works well. We have heard from women who are gaining not just months, but years with a high quality of life, from this treatment.

So the Susan B. Komen Foundation for a Cure and 14 other Cancer Advocacy Groups are all mentally deficient?
No, but read the quote in context - the Komen Foundation is not as pro Avastin as presented in the article.
The quote in context: Susan G. Komen for the Cure | Statement on Avastin
In 2008, the FDA gave Avastin accelerated approval for the treatment of metastatic breast cancer (that is, breast cancer that has spread to other parts of the body) based on data showing that the drug extended the time it took for the cancer progress. Last month’s panel recommendation to withdraw approval was based on results from two relatively new clinical trials, which suggest that, on average, women taking the drug received only a modest benefit, while increasing their risk for certain side effects.
We recognize the benefits of Avastin overall are modest for women with metastatic breast cancer. However, we do know that for some women, Avastin offers a greater benefit — but we do not yet know how to determine which patients will experience greater benefits. We have much more to learn about the drug and how individual patients respond to the drug, such as why some women receive greater benefit while others do not.
A reasoned debate with people who would call 15 cancer advocacy groups insane, mentally deficient, and accuse them of colluding with the drug companies?

Really?
Just because people may disagree with the same things, doesn't mean they do it for the same explanation as you. Life has more choices then A or B, and clearly in their own words they don't agree with the take of Obamacare rationing and death panels...which is the insane bit.
They just want people to have choice, which is a rational argument.
Just because certain people champion it to forward their political goals by putting words into their mouths has no relation to their actually thoughts, only the person making the psychotic political horsecrap.

Rush falsely claims that FDA might rescind approval of Avastin for breast cancer "because it's too expensive"
