Yes Iraq had a nuclear weapons program that was on hold waiting to have sanctions lifted to continue. They did find parts for it all over the place which were duel purposed along with all the portable drug labs.
They found several hundred tons of yellow cake.

Unfortunately the terrorist base called the Islamic Brotherhood and Iran are behind lots of this, so this may not be the Democratic type of uprising you had in mind.

But the thread was about taking oil which I never heard of.

Personally, I think the Administration are playing this just about right (as they did in Egypt). Getting rid of Gaddafi is good for everyone and, if we can get that result without military intervention then that is a good thing. Then what matters is how we relate to any future government in Libya. The French have the right idea by already sending in a couple of plane loads of doctors and nurses to Benghazi ... hearts and minds ... so much more effective than troops wasting the locals.
