FYI,the capitol is the peoples' building, not the governor's.

This is NOT what democracy looks like

When was the last time you were in DC. The Capitol steps are unapproachable because there are machine gunners on the steps. You can't get near the Capitol steps unless you will be shot on site. Some "people's building".

With this in mind, I guess you would be in favor of machine gunners on the Madison Capitol steps because the only way you can get into the DC Capitol Bldg is by an organized tour. Some organized tour in Madison! LOL...

Can you please expound on this. I have no idea what you refer to. I am not trying to stuff you, I just don't have the foggiest idea who the ...gunners you refer to are.

A swing and a miss.

The First Amendment covers more than simply speech. Any behavior can be expression, and expression is protected -
Slap yourself.
Ok go yell fire in a crowded theater.

Based on what's posted there, I don't think it means they can keep spending the night, but the police aren't making them leave by force so far--that's a smart move--I'm sure they don't want to escalate this into something it doesn't need to be. That said, I watched a clip on the news last night where the capital staff were welding the windows shut on orders from the republican leadership so no one could pass food in to the protesters. Overkill much?

This isn't mob rule--it's classic first amendment stuff. Just because you're elected to public office doesn't mean that the voters don't have the right to challenge your decisions, and hold you accountable for them. Democracy doesn't end at the voting booth.

We are not for controlling people (that is solidly in the hands of the left with all their various and sundry "bans" and "fill-in-the-blank control").

Nobody is saying they can't protest, can't offer their opinion, forcefully and loudly, but you don't have a right to interfere with the operation of the organs of government, anymore than Tea Party people would or should have the right to flood the White House or U.S. Senate Chambers to protest at length. Perhaps for a day or so, but not on and on. The right of the people at large to have their collective business addressed by their representatives must, at some point, trump the right of the mob to block it.

That is why we have certain restrictions in, say, a court of law, or similar places.

I defend your right to speak your mind, fully and completely, even if I think it is complete BS. That is part and parcel of being an American, but some places have to have some modicum of order to them in order for our form of government to succeed. If we devolve into mob-rule, we are all doomed, Tea Party, GOP, Democrat and Independent alike.[/quote]

First thing you've posted that I agree with. Funny though, I seem to remember all the disruption of town Hall meetings by the radical right during the McCain campaign.
You are improving.

That argument would hold out if there was rioting or violence going on--it's not. There is no public danger here. Get it?

Keep up the "good" work.
Did you overdose on Fox News this morning?

Apparently you didn't see where they threatened and punched a Fox News reporter.

No. I'm sure there is a video evidence of it. Do you have it? And if it did happen, it wouldn't surprise me. Fox News reports them as "anti-American", as political enemies. A sane person can take insanity for only so long.
