Governments cannot, by their nature, create wealth on their own. They owe their existance and functionality from the tax payers. Its the tax payers that pay these salaries and its the taxpayers with whom you are truly bargaining with, it's their money. Surely you can understand the dissatisfaction and lack of support for public sector unions from us productive members of society who work and earn a living.

Why are you against well off tax payers? Are you socialist or something.

The last thing you want to do is to admit that this all may be your fault. Your poverty couldn't possibly have anything to do with your decision to forego college for that great job at the mall. You're also convinced that your decision to hang out with your friends at night instead of getting some more education at the local community college was the right one. Hey! You work hard and deserve your fun, right?
Because in order to have a civilized society, government is necessary. You can dream about a libertarian utopia, but it doesn't exist.
Besides, if Republicans didn't believe in taking other people's money, they would fight for eliminating the government entirely, and I don't hear any of them doing that.

You seem to forget that Democrats are tax payers as well and that Republicans also like services like fire and police protection and schools to send their children to.

The point I'm making is these public sector unions need to know whose money they are "collectively barganing" for. It isn't the government's or some evil Republican governor's, it's the taxpayers. Teachers in this country are terrible anyway by and large , so its not like they're deserving of high salaries. They work 9 months a year and think they're owed something.
Quid pro quo with the unions. Dems come to expect taxpayer money to be filtered to them. Perfect way to get money from taxpayers and union memebers who may not consciously or actively support the Dem candidates chosen by the union elite.
Generations of exchanging favors for taxpayer money have become ingrained and the reason Wisconsin has become such a heated battleground. Both the unions and the Dems lose bigtime if people are given the option to join unions. Both trough feeders will have to go cold turkey.
I went to a private school my whole life. My teachers were paid more and they were better...and about 1/3 of our school went for free because they couldn't afford it. Hmmmm....
A lot of people just feel that if government takes it it's not stealing. And from there dozens of arguments come... "the rich wouldn't be rich if it werent for the government and taxes", "everyone has a right to the basic necessities of life", "everyone has a right to the basic necessities of life + 1", "everyone has a right to the basic necessities of life + 1 + 1", "everyone has a right to the basic necessities of life + 1 + 1 + 1", etc.
