Are there companies being restrained from forcing slave labor right now? Or does the market dictate what they can do?

The bottom line in all this folks is that everyone is out for their own best interests, and the only way your going to get that is to fight for it.

The corporate fascists are not going to pay your more out of the goodness of their heart, just as they are not going to push the Chinese government to enact pollution reduction policies.

It us up to the people to push what is for their best interest, because noone else is going to do it for you. You need to demand your rights.

Lightbulb Why don't Americans work 60-80 Hours Per Week?

We lazy Americans just aren't grateful enough to the nation's billionaires, who provide us with everything we need. We owe them more. Perhaps labor unions should consider going to at least a 60 hour workweek and adjusting the hourly wages downward so that the poor folks at the top can enjoy increased productivity from us worker bees.

Market would love child labor, if it gets to dictate. In fact, it does so where it rules. Do you think the market would self-regulate on child labor laws? That would be akin to expecting a registered pedophile to discipline self.

So tell me, why is CEO pay climbing exponentially actually and not dropping to normalize with what other CEO's are paid around the world?!
Do tell. What is the normalized CEO rate?

Looks like this free market crap is for the pleebs at the bottom while the top holds all the cards and the government in their pocket to boot!

Of course it is a free market. If you object to the CEO compensation of a given company don't invest in it or buy its goods or services.

Actually, they aren't. With the exception of wage and hour laws, workers have no right to any compensation other than what the market decides they are worth.

Is it unions that restrain companies from hiring them? Or is it government regulations?

Working 60 to 80 hours a week would turn me into a monster. I could barely handle working 30 hours a week. 60 to 80 hours a week would take almost beyond my limits. I believe more in the quality of work more than the amount of time put it. Yes, the more time you put in, the better your work might be, and the more money you make. With that said, if you are good at what you do and it only takes 40 hours a week to put in your BEST work, then its 40 QUALITY hours. I would rather put in 40 QUALITY hours than put in 80 fodder hours. If you have to work 60 to 80 hours a week to get by, then you do what you have to do. I understand. Me personally, if I can help it, I work my hours, and then I go enjoy my life.
