Zero Years as a NYC teacher, what is below with the five years, is five years as an NYC teacher. The 8B Designation comes from 7.5 years of teaching experience, meaning teaching elsewhere other than NYC.

For new hires (not new teachers) you need at least 7.5 years experience to qualify for 8B.

If you will notice, it says 5 yr LONG. I suspect that means a teacher with 5 years of longevity, which would be the salary of a teacher who has taught in the district for 5 years. The max salary for a teacher with 5 years longevity is $75k. The max salary for a teacher coming into the district with 5 years experience is $62k.

And the MAX SALARY FOR A TEACHER WITH 2 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IS $60k. Geez...

5 years of service with NYC Department of Ed.

so if you start out on 8B (which is not a new teacher, that would teacher with only a BA who has 7.5 years experience) your salary is 63,009. With five years of service within the NYC Department of Ed your salary will be 64,009. That would put you at 12.5 years of teaching.

using you own words

sucks to be wrong, doesnt it?

like I said, you don't know how to read it.

Ahh no.. it says "academic credits, coursework or degrees earned"

Again.. lines 1A-8B are wages from years 1-4.. years 5 starts where it says 5 YR long.. (why is this difficult for you to comprehend? yes its even in bold on the sheet)

This is in addition to the additional work paid at $41.98 per hour..

Ahh no.. The line BEFORE it says 5 yr long is for those with LESS than 5 years.. you know the line 8B that starts at $63,009.. And since my buddy has a masters, roll over to the masters and see what the STARTING wage is.. $71,848..

You guys should be embarassed..

you need to stop. You're making yourself look foolish

Can you find the first page?

Newly appointed teachers are eligible to receive credit for up
to 7.5 years (up to step 8B)
of prior teaching experience outside the New York City Department of Education and/or
related non-teaching experience.* For every semester of satisfactory teaching service within the New York City
Department of Education, an appointed teacher will move up one step.

There are seven salary increments based on longevity (5, 10, 13, 15, 18, 20, 22 years), which are paid to appointed
teachers with five years or more of service within the New York City Department of Education.

1A to 8-B is not years 1-4, its based off how many years experience someone has teaching. The B is for half a year. For example someone at 8A has 7 years, 8B, 7.5 years. The very top of page one points out what you need to have the starting salary of $74,796, notice the 7.5 years....

Ahh no.. starting teachers salary of $45,530 would be WITHOUT a license.. or no teaching experience.. bachelor's degree, with a masters + 30 credits (equates to 7.5 years is $74,796) but thats with no work experience or any specialization.. AGAIN go down to the bottom, line 7B, 8A, 8B and you will see they all approach the $70K range, especially if you add in the extras that my buddy does.. He specializes in history, so scroll down.. Is this that tough?
