It will mean no more minimum wages or child labor laws, work and be happy you have a job, complaining is grounds for arrest and re-education. It means the end of SS and Medicare, don’t have enough saved and want the money you paid in back, too bad get over it. It means the middle-class, or what is left of it will be stuck with paying the bills since at that point the right will have found a way to remove all taxes on Rich and Big Business, since after all we know when the rich are happy they will throw a few crumbs the way of the little people. It will mean religion into the schools and science either distorted or removed. It will means laws passed on how someone’s religion tells them we should be living, no matter that the majority do not agree. It will mean the burring of books and the attempt to remove ideas and those that voice them. It will mean building walls around our nation so we can live free to enjoy our paranoia. It will mean wars and more wars based religious beliefs and greed. It will mean a nation of haves and have nots with little in-between. It will be a Nation ready for a fall and it will not be pretty. So, no thanks, I'll pass, balance and common sense are what we need. Can our government be trimed and become more efficient, apsolutely, but if we are talking a nation run by one Party, Left or Right, I am tottally against it.
ONE last thought: at this moment one Party is attempting to destroy the other Party from the ground up, this should be setting off alarm bells all across this nation, because if they are successful all of the things I mentioned above plus many more will come to pass.

A lot of your drivel is exactly backwards.

Smaller government does not in any way include telling people how to live. It has nothing to do with burning books or telling people what religion they must follow.

You have it totally backwards. It's BIG GOVERNMENT that tells people how to live their lives. That's what big government is all about. That's why it's "BIG" ... it has lots of power.... power to limit our choices.

Democrats did not approve of the civil rights act. JFK voted NO twice on it. More Republicans voted yes than Democrats, by 2-1.

But Democrats were more conservative than they are now.

Dems are still more conservative the Liberals have hi-jacked the Dem party is all!

That would be the Progressives role in this. The progressive have grown government more and more to regulate and rule society and culture, in a nudge to the direction they wish.
Conservatives are for getting government out of the way and have individual personal choices instead of being told what to do.

That is a no brainer.

Good day. Off to play some golf.
You are trying to box a ghost.
They lie about their positions from the start.

All of the above describes what I've seen of CONSERVATIVES, not liberals over the last 40 years or so.

That is a no brainer.
You mean by banning gay marriage, abortion, censorship, the "Patriot" Act, warrantless wiretapping, etc?

I think his point was that extreme conservatives who advocate for smaller government often use that same government to control how we live. They don't mind big government when it serves their agenda. We've had to fight hard to both gain and protect freedoms from such groups.

Republcans say they are, but when they are in control they do the complete opposite, forcing government into our lives in many ways that dictate how we should live. You might not see it because perhaps you agree with the lifestyle they promote, so it doesn't impact your personal freedom. But many are not so lucky to avoid their big government control of lives and use of our tax dollars on very questionable purposes, especially related to defense.

The two parties were very similar, until Marxism made its way and embedded itself into the Democrat party, at the beginning of the Progressive Era. It has been a long road to where we are today.

People are getting educated in the age of the internet. The Progressives pulled their Liberal label/mask off too quickly to be effective in a very Conservative nation.
Nov. 2nd, 2010 was the beginning of the end for the 140 year old Progressive Era of the USA. They will go hide under a rock once again, changing names to protect the guilty, until they feel the time is right to come out of the closet, removing their masks once again.

Time makes you forget.
Education about history, makes you remember what your dead great great grand parents fought against. Communism / Marxism / Fascist

Someone woke the hell up!!

Game Over!
