wow to many posts to keep up with! Just to answer the original post I consider myself a feminist because it pissed me off that during my divorce hearing the judge asked my husbands lawyer if it was ok with him (my ex didn't show up) if I went back to my maiden name (2003). I guess a non-feminist would consider that a reasonable question.

I love that they have to go back 15-20-100 years to find quotes.
If not so pathetic, this would be funny.

the population that sees woman as subservient and has trouble with women having any other role in life but being and acting subservient, tells us loudly women still need the feminist "movement" the mindset that embraces women as subservient is the same mind set, in the extreme that you see in third world cultures. while we may not be third world here it is obvious there is a segment of our society that feels any women, especially one that might sound shrill, look too "butch" or gives her opinion, are to be looked upon as "radicals".

this thread shows we need women now and in the future that stand up against this mind set. I hope they are big "ballsy" women.
The anti-feminists really love the straw(wo)man "radical feminist", but I can't see any examples of radicalism from the dozen or so women who've chimed in here. We're the real feminists, not some boogeyman in the closet who doesn't really exist.

Strident feminists generally fall into one of the following three groups, some fit in two out of three, or perhaps even all three.
1. Membership in the Communist Party. If not actual Party members, then some other radical group. Feminists are invariably far left in their ideology. The most vicious attacks on conservative women come from feminists. The icon of the feminists, the late Betty Fridan, author of their bible, The Feminine Mystique, was a long time member of the CPUSA.
2. Gay. Self explanatory.
3. Hates men. Usually because they are such ******* that they have never been able to get and keep one. Often these types also hate being a woman, so never act like one.

BlackShoe - Been having trouble finding dates lately? They grow on trees. In California.

Feminist: any female suffering under the delusion that she is a free person and citizen with all the rights and responsibilites as any male citizen.

Nope, the only problem has being able to afford it in pricey SoCal. As might be expected, avoid the FemiNazi types like the plague, and associate with traditional values women that are content to be women and behave like one.

I think you meant to say a woman that knows her place, doesn't expect to be treated like an equal, and is quite happy to be a 2nd class citizen.

there is that 3rd world mentality, women that are "content" to be what man thinks they should be. after all the rest of them are communist, housewife hating lesbians that hate men.

black shoe you should go on a comedy tour or better yet maybe see if you can get an hour on the 700 club
